I loved layering this weekend

I disagree, the cities were empty, I couldn’t see my friends playing the game, UC didn’t have any NPC’s, It’s very exploitable…

Right, I didn’t experience the negative side to layering either, but I’m certainly not going to make a shortsighted post like this one.

Just because you had a great time and weren’t adversely affected by it, many people are, and it’s only a matter of time really.

When videos are being created that show people grouping to down content and most of the party suddenly gets “layered” in the middle of a fight, that’s a huge problem.

You “love” something that has such negative consequences only because you didn’t experience it yourself, that’s very odd.

Lol R.I.P. OP’s positive post. In the first two hours of the test, there were far too many people for me to be able to quest in Deathknell, I just grinded to Brill. Its good to know that, after the initial flood, the quests are reasonably playable.

I doesnt surprise me that people weren’t using AH or spending much time in the major cities. It was a very short test and people felt it pointless. They were just playing around instead. I saw some people in SW and IF but it wasnt “packed” nor did I expect it to be with this test.

I will say that I grouped with my husband and some of our friends for much of my playtime. It took us a few minutes to all end up on the same layer, once that happened we ran all the way from IF to Teldrassil and even swarmed around Auberdine for a good long while with absolutely no issues. I have read some complaints from people saying that once they layered in with their group they had constant disconnects and interaction issues. I can only say that was not my experience with it at all.

There are definitely problems with the layering tech. Its buggy for sure. There werent enough issues to bother me too much since i was busy checking out my class and i had a good group most of the time. Hopefully they get rid of is asap and dont go back on what they promised.

Some folks were definitely using it, and lots of people were bragging about having 50+ gold… which struck me as pretty pointless.

There’s another aspect that people are forgetting about here: you can’t sit in a city and queue for dungeons. You actually have to get off your butt and travel to the instance portal.

People were actively running WC and VC. Both of those are a decent hike from any major city.

Played off and on all weekend, got my druid to level 11. Did not encounter any issues with layering and did not notice it to begin with.

Just inputting a tiny sample of my own anecdotal experience.

The dev posted that the previous stress tests/beta were under tuned and that for this most recent stress test they fixed dynamic respawns to work and generate units accordingly to population.

i really enjoyed not having 10 million people to compete against. I got most of the starting zone quests done in a timely manner teaming up. Do I care that people can exploit a few chests or mining nodes for a couple weeks? No. Do I care that I might not interact with -everyone- for the first few weeks? No, the game doesn’t even really begin for me until level 60. I prefer the less clutter of players. This is my opinion, and yours may be different. Just like politics, there are many views and we are all allowed our own.

Except it does and has.

Might want to take some remedial classes my friend.

I hope blizzard explicitly states that Classic will be a MORPG instead of an MMORPG.

Except I played the stress test twice. It isn’t zone specific.

I don’t see the cities being empty as a negative, people were out leveling, not sitting in a city. Layering has some upsides and some downsides, but overall, I think it worked well this weekend. I was in plenty of questing groups, we never phased out that I could see.

1 person getting shifted to a new layer when entering a capital city is not changing layers as you change zones…

If it worked the way you claim, he would be changing layers as he enters and leaves which is not what he sees.

Plus considering how many people are decrying layering you would see dozens of examples not a couple if it was anywhere near as reproducible as you claim.

Logical fallacy. Just because you didn’t experience it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen to countless others.

Next.

With only 2-4 servers I can see why they would layer everywhere including the main cities. I’m hoping they restrict it to the 1-20 areas only come release when we have a lot more servers.

Show me an instance of a player phasing in and out as they enter and then exit a city.

Why argue over the city pops during a test. I went to org and saw no one. That just meant they were in the barrens or razor hill. Wait for launch and then complain if org is dead.

Literally around post 30 of this thread. They swapped layers; obvious troll is obvious.
