I love WoW, but I Miss Going Into the Out

It’s an unicorporated territory of the US or a commonwealth if you want to get fancy. We here in the island however refer to it as a country because reasons.

wrong. Puerto Rico is NOT a country. It is a US territory - just like the US Virgin Islands and America Somoa. PR is NOT an independent “country”.

What did I state that was wrong? Were the Spanish not the first Western civilization to invade PR and subjugate it’s people? Were the Spanish - and the Portugese - not the people that started the Atlanitc Slave trade. Where was I wrong? Enlighten me. Your heritage of mixed races comes from what was the norm back then - slaves from Africa and indentured servants from China. That exists ALL OVER the entire Caribbean and South America. Do you know how many Chinese were in Mexico during the 17th and 18th century?

We don’t hide it either. Where has it been hidden?

BTW - no, they were not British. They were full on Americans by the point your are referring to - and had been for close to 100 years.

They have wanted US statehood for a very long time.

Those of us on the island refer to Puerto Rico as a country, however in order to not offend you you might call Puerto Rico a nation since a nation is not necesarily independent, such as the first nations.

The Spanish didn’t come in here guns blazing enslaving people, that happened much after and was only done to those that decided they where fed up with the Spanish and participated in the Taino Revolts, also fun fact, many natives fled to other islands in the caribbean and Taino DNA has also been found in modern day Puerto Ricans. The Spaniards and Portuguese got into an existing market of slave trading started by Muslims, the British and French also used it.

Do you know how many africans and chinese where in the US during the 17th and 18th century? Because apparently you all think everyone in the US is pureblooded something.

US crimes against its native and black population are so downplayed it’s hilarious when you all get on your high horse, while the US was fighting off segregation in the 60’s we had already integrated everyone, white, black, native, asian by the late 1800’s.

Americans where british when the pox blankets happened, they where also british when slaves where brought into the states, they only renamed themselves in the 1700s and continued doing the same thing.

My life after covid is pretty much the same as my life before covid.

I couldn’t care less about “face time” with other people. I’m an introvert…getting to work from home and spend pretty much all my time in front of the computer is pretty much perfect. I do like going outside, but I still do that. Well, when it’s not cold anyway (I hate the cold).

How is that “apparent”? I never said anything about US people being “pureblood”. What a ridiculous assumption on your part. As a matter of fact, I always refer to Americans as mutts . And what the hell is a “pureblood” anyways? You mean some white supremacist junk?

Also - the Spaniards and the Portuguese did not get in on the Muslim slave trade. The Muslim’s didn’t start the Atlantic Slave Trade - that rests SOLELY on the Portuguese. The Spaniards helped facilitate it. The Dutch, English, et al did not come into the picture until after a hundred years or so of the Spanish and Portuguese shipping slaves to the Caribbean and South America.

Opposite for me. I only like going outside when it’s cold. Cold weather makes me feel alive. I hate hot weather. And I live in a place that is hot 9 months out of the year.

Now is an opportunity of self reflection and meditation that we usually don’t have or haven’t had for a long time, but people are focusing on politics.

If it sounds preachy, keep in mind what we actually live in present-day if you’re stressing out in the comfort of your home.

I lived in South Augusta from 86 to 99. I haven’t been back for about 10 years now. I went to ATI in the late 90’s which really helped me in my career. I graduated from Hephzibah high school heh. I also spent 2 years in Athens. I miss my old stomping grounds once in a while.

I used to go down there about once a week for work in the early 2k’s and often stopped at Backyard Burger. Haven’t had one in over a decade and was very sad to hear they’re gone lol. Might go play some disc golf down there this summer, they’ve got a lot of great courses.

I live a little over an hour away in SC. Been a while since I’ve been down there but I always liked the Riverwalk I think it’s called.

Learn new skills. That’s what I am doing, it can be anything of your liking.

Unless your a big name politicians and you can bypass those guideline and if you get caught in the act, the media will protect you by burying the story that targeted you with that scandal. This why everyone is ignoring the guideline and have no trust in the government. btw everyone is going celebrate Christmas with their families ignoring Dr. Fauci’s request because no one give a F anymore.

Have to say it doesn’t bother me much. It’s a bit more difficult now that winter has set in, but I’ve set a schedule, try to eat right, make sure I get outside for an hour or two, etc.

I love Kindle Unlimited and Audible. I still prefer holdng a book, however, I realized I need to start reading/listening to them. I have too many books/shelves.

To the OP, not too much has changed with me. I still see my family and my small circle of friends. I’m dropping off home baked bread to one of those friends later this week.

I’ll be back in the office within a few weeks, but I would prefer staying home, however since part of my function requires me to notarize some documents (since our staff was cut) that’s where I’ll be. It will be nice to see folks at the office, but I’m not looking forward to traffic that I encounter going and coming from work. Boo! :frowning:

A silly and alarmist comparison. How about comparing other non deliberate sources of death like flu, aging, cancer, work accidents, other corona virus strains, other contagious diseases etc? You do realise that old folks get harvested in substantial numbers yearly by influenza, but people take that for granted? Anyway I’m sorta in the middle, I think I don’t want to catch or spread it, I wear masks in certain situations like when I had a cold just then and didn’t want to spread a potential false positive for corona around, so wore a mask while shopping, but I still think a lot of govts are overreacting through ignorance, being stupidly heavy handed at times through malice, and some people are trying to make the most of the situation in pushing for massive lifestyle and economic changes society wide, while damaging the economy which doesn’t exist in a vacuum and is the only thing between millions of people and deaths from non covid sources.

Did that last year, but covid and the political situation took too much attention and I put it aside. I want to get back to it as things start to normal out again. Korean made Epiphone Thunderbird bass. US made Peavy bass amp. I’m mad at myself this dumb game gets more attention from me.

Sorry to hear you were consumed by Covid in there. Stay safe. I do contract computer programming and I went to a few hours a week in March and then work dried up in June. So I haven’t had anything to do since. (100% commission, so no work, no pay. I have savings though so I’m good for now.)

My contribution has been to avoid becoming part of the problem. So I’ve been staying at home with the exception of my weekly shopping trips. That means lots of time to do stuff. The bass is fun, but I have a couple of acoustic guitars (Aria & Blueridge) and a Gretsch 2657T with Vox modeling amp too. Between that, baking stuff, and messing around with amateur radio I don’t hit the computer as much as I used to.

Hmm. Also pulled the front seats out of my truck to reupholster them. Need to order the fabric and get that done. (Pulled a temp seat from a scrapped GMC in a local junkyard.) I have a Consew 206 RB-5 and I’ll use that for the seat covers. Used to make bike bags with it.

I only hit level 60 to the other day and just started the last zone. Maybe ~30 hours played so far this expansion. Not a lot.

Got a Kindle to get a lot of books that are free digitally, but impossible to get on paper. Lots of 19th century stuff.

I love that Zyzzixx. You can buy reprints of those when you want hardcopies. They take a minute to get to you because they make them to order or in very small batches.

Mostly, though, I just enjoy the free 19th century commentary and history for free.
