I love how people mock World of Warcraft graphics (more on post)

Looking in the mirror with the number on my menu is 3.

Pcie x4 SSD at 32k in/out to a i5 10400 with a on board 630 GPU. Wired at 67ms/70ms 30-45 fps. Dynamic spell and 4/4/4 settings DX12 1080 60p HDMI. 650 power supply for my Gigibite 460.
This above is bare minimum.
I see it on my 32" 4k as breath taking.

Fully disagree on this. Blizzard is ahead of the curve on updating one game’s graphics over time.

I feel like you’re comparing fullblown sequels in a multi-game series to xpacks.

I really enjoy wows graphics, I like the bright colors and fun cartoon style it has. Maybe it’s just me but the more realistic it looks, the less I’m able to differentiate from players and the background. It’s harder to see the items.

Like cod is a good example of how it’s graphics are getting “better” but I struggle playing it.

I’d love the ability to utilize my CPU better.

Despite some questionable decisions made with Shadowland’s art, Blizzard’s art department is the one thing it has that it can say other companies can’t match.

I think cartoon related graphics stand the test of time longer than real looking graphics. And part of that is because there are constant advancements in real looking graphics. So months from now they’ll look dated compared to something else that shows even more detail.

Where cartoon stays pretty much the same and has for a long time.

I also think WoW’s graphics feeds into fantasy more, being that it’s obviously not that real. But is good enough to be immersive.

I like a lot of the newer updates to their graphics and some of the textures they use. They are really getting creative with stuff and it looks nice.

Honestly people who complain about the Graphics not being “realistic” enough or whatever 100% play exclusively Human and especially hate all the Furry races like honestly one of the best parts about the game is it’s not so fancy Graphics and cartoony Art Style

I like WoW’s artistic style, but there’s no denying that much of the older content and gear looks pretty janky now. (Although that doesn’t prevent me from appreciating the designs, concepts, and sometimes fantastical nature of old zones.) Which is a shame, as some of the old gear sets would look phenomenal if brought up to current.

Agree.
If I wanted my video game to look like real life, Id go play another game.
Part of this games charm is its still cartoony colorful instead of blandy life-like.

At least I don’t have to worry about WoW cooking my graphics card… Looking at you New World!

wow’s artstyle is fine, i do wish blizzard would be more proactive about updating old things to bring them up to current standards. I especially wish they’d go back and revamp gear from MoP and before. there’s a lot of good gear that just looks so dated. I’d love to see the Challenge mode sets from MoP brought up to current quality

I have a crappy PC and I’m a cheap person. WoWs low intensive graphics are one of the reasons I play honestly

People still believe that somehow cartoons is seen beneath them or for children when in fact cartoons is for everyone and every age and they are way more flexible than say any realistic style or concept. Also, cartoons can withstand the test of time especially modern cartoon style like post Warlord of Draenor or pandaria.

One thing I loved about those types is showing them what cartoons were actually like when they started to be animated, far from being for children at that time.

Hell, I have a family member, who (ugh) truly believes that cartoons and video games are literally made by children and feels, and I quote “It is bothersome that there are adults who create these things. They should get a life and stop being creepy.”

Whats worse, there are actually a vast amount that seem to believe this as well. Glad I became an introvert, less contact with em.

I mean, there’s cartoon graphics, then there’s abstract art graphics like the leaves on WoW trees… you can barely tell they’re leaves!

I give you exhibit A:

The old zones could really use some touch-ups to some things.

Modern expansions yes. Older 2d pixels need a revamp

Art is heavily subjective but in my opinion it is very nice in most regards. But the art could and should be better. Some assets haven’t been touched since Release and that’s a shame. If everything from Vanilla to now was upped to the new standard the game would look fantastic.

My wife and i talk about this all the time, when you have a more cartoon like graphic it lets the game age better because it can be kept the same or updated (like it had been) making it still feel new but not like itll be outdated like some older MMOs (Aion is one that comes to mind) also keeps the game easier for a majority of peoples PCs to run keeping the playerbase up.
