I just bought another 2 months time, no interest in Retail or Wrath, but Classic Era, even on a dead server, is so fun and engaging.

Not gonna lie I used to bad mouth Era all the time since it was dead for the longest time but I gave it another solid chance last week and I’ve been having a blast. The population has grown significantly in the past few months to the point where I feel it is actually playable. Something magical about vanilla that wotlk doesn’t have. I still raid WOTLK because I enjoy raiding but vanilla feels like a real world.

Nothing beats the original.
“Casual” as it may be it still trends more towards old school MMORPGs which were way more engaging than anything we’ve seen since then.

New expansion comes out…play it for about an hour…nope.
Tried Wrath a few times, it’s ok, but feels like EZ mode classic.
Straight vanilla classic…shoot it in my veins!

yeah I get you. I have good memories of wrath, and I do enjoy it, but it feels closer to retail than vanilla. Everyone afk in the main city waiting to be summoned to their instanced content of choice
in retrospect I think classic wow launch was the most fun I’ve ever had playing this game. I didn’t play SoM 1 because I was on the tbc train at the time, but I will def play the next fresh

You love it so much you posted on a retail toon. But yea, I love it too.
My issue with classic wow is that the rotations (if that’s even the right word) are simple and class balance doesn’t exist.
I know why it didn’t exist in the past, but I don’t like just repeating mistakes for nostalgia’s sake.
Oh you wanted to play Boomkin? Well screw you, that’s not viable and we don’t want it to be. You should play frost mage only and just hit frost bolt 38 times for this boss fight.

But if you are a boomkin in classic it’s rare. Oh that’s moonjuice, the moonkin. In wrath, dime a dozen.

There’s truth in what you’re saying for sure but I do think the gap should be closed a bit. Moonkin/Ret should prob continue to be bottom tier in terms of dps since their utility is great, but they shouldn’t be getting their dps quadrupled

Yeah that’s understandable. I kind of like the balance tbh, especially in PvP, classes are all broken in their own way and have niches where they really shine. Pve rotations are pretty bad for some classes but I generally main a hunter or fury warrior in classic and both of those have somewhat of a rotation as opposed to spamming a single button.
I have played elemental shaman in classic too speaking to class balance and although you need to put loads of work into it, you can be very competitive on the meters, even in long fights if you downrank you have enough sustain and can hang with most casters. Plus you are an absolute wrecking ball in PvP. I know not every meme spec is in the same boat but I think if you really want to play a spec you can make it work, you’ll just have to find the raid spot first.

at the end of the day, they are PvP specs
they have good burst damage. not so much dps over long periods of time (like during a raid boss)
you can raid with them but it’s not optimal. not being optimal is ok, you don’t have to be. but you won’t be anywhere near the top of the leader board. you will probably be below the crappiest dps warrior, even.
