what’s wrong with retail? retail is awesome.

Classic is basically untouched in Era. Not sure what you mean.

I checked the news for “man/woman wakes up from two year coma to play video games” but found nothing.

What are you on about opie?

What people don’t realize is that it is not the overarching game systems that made retail what it is. RDF, LFR, and other systems in retail did not make it into the game we can’t stand. It is the way the new expansions handle gear/character progression, character homogenization (moving class skills to spec skills, removing talent trees, giving everyone stuns, interrupts, heals, etc., removing buffing, making classes having “rotations”, and other stuff), story design, world design, quest design, profession design, and similar things.

Classic wow has become more zoomed than retail now, believe it or not. The p2w Mastercard gdkp lifestyle of classic players has already done irreversible damage. Classic is a mobile casino game now. I never thought I’d see the day where I am defending retail players from classic players

Aye, we shouldn’t have any race ability changes and while we have things like late game talent trees and no lfg is a thing which is something I thought would be cool but we can do without.

Retail is so good, that I could never see myself playing it.

It’s called classic because it’s a reintroduction of old expansions. It’s mission was never to become the anti-retail. Let’s have them as they were, not how the “community” deems them to be. I’ve only been on board with classic because I was waiting for wrath to bring the LFD tool. That’s how I get down. It’s a good feature. We can discuss the crappiness of azerite and other borrowed power, and heinous storylines, but LFD is so NOT what is wrong with retail. Next they’ll be hating on transmog once it’s introduced “because it was better when you could flex your tier” or some other bs.

All these things are ill informed red herrings that have nothing to do with retail’s maladies.

It’s utterly tone-deaf. Other than the people who reflexively hate on every single aspect of retail, LFD drove subs up to unforseen heights. It was one of the seminal “fixes” that would have been great from the start. Other successful games have borrowed the model to great acclaim.

You just can’t expect me, who plays off hours duoing or alone, to find 3-4 people my level (or power level at cap, no one wants to carry unless it’s for gold) so I end up just not taking part in that aspect of the game. Time played dries up and before you know it people like me are gone before they otherwise would be.

This change is going to ruin precisely what made the expansion the top grosser of all time. I don’t have direct experience but I know boosts are full of snarky micromanaging nuke toons “move up” “I said don’t move!” and getting a group just involves spamming “inv” and hoping for the best. I know no one talks anymore, what, did you think this was 2004 again? This game’s population is aging and no one is looking for friends in a videogame anymore, we have lives, and even if you are LFFriends, there are guilds for that and you’ll still have whatever kind of time you want to have in those.

Just sit in org and queue for things. Why would you ever go out into the world?

I believe the idea they are going with is that it is detrimental to pvp as you are hiding your power level.

This is a point so many have made. People that value community and social connections have already joined guilds, have friends/guildies readily available to run dungeons so they don’t deal with paid runs or spamming for extended periods all for naught. Enabling the RDF will not change their curated interactions but it will give those that might see dungeons as their “end game” the opportunity to have fun and play the game.

As someone that has a guild and group when I need/want I don’t see how I’m impacted negatively at all if someone that has limited time or resources is able to connect with others in the same situation. I was similarly situated in OG Wrath and found myself occasionally queuing with random folk. I didn’t really need anything but would group up with people from my server that were looking for that one last member or two. We’d use the RDF and git 'er done. Seriously Blizz - this is really not the bad apple you are looking for. Just add the RDF to Wrath Classic.

Ain’t this the 100% truth.
Don’t forget endless and I mean endless currencies that are dropped next xpac.

I’m anxious to see what dumpster fire they release next!

Wow, you’re saying people aren’t having fun spamming 1 button for years and instead just shortcut to the rewards?

Who could have seen that coming?

Lmfao

Tbcc/wotlkc isn’t/won’t be ‘Classic’.

Seems to me that Retail has an identity crisis. They’re trying to appease everyone which is impossible. They need to make sure the try hards are happy and that the casuals are also happy.

When i went back to Retail briefly, what bugged me was the homogenization of not just classes, but players as well. Everyone had cool looking gear. Even the stuff you got from LFR looked fine. I put in 0 effort and I felt like I actually accomplished something in game. It was a complete turn off. I expected a totem pole of player “eliteness” so to speak. There was none. Everyone seemed to be at the top.
