Player housing/alt grinding:
What if, we had a place where all of our alts kind of milled about like NPCs did in our garrison? And what if they worked together in such a way that, say, I max a toon out and unlock progression on gear, that for the fellow toons in the “posse” either also becom unlocked or at least get a bonus to how fast they can progress in the grind. One alternative is that maybe every toon you progress further decreases the grind for the next toon?
This kind of solidifies the way I think of my alts, I always see them as a group working together.

WoW has always been an alt driven game for the majority of the players. Big miss by the diablo B team.

This is why we can’t have nice things. You are giving them $ before even being granted the opportunity to see how terrible their product is.

Went from having a blast with a variety of relatively competitive alts (Prot/Holy Pal, Blood DK, Outlaw/Assassin Rogue, Brewmaster monk) to just two “mains.” Prot warrior and frost/fire mage.
I play my holy paladin some too, heal like 12s and what-not but I only have green essences on them because I’d rather not grind them a third time.
It is a time sink that actually makes me play less. No more.

While i’m not sure I would want the BiS essences unlocked… the basic ones from Honorbound, Mechagnomeland should be if only to keep me from going insane from pop-ups.

It’s funny how there has been a decent shift to this opinion. I know there are still plenty of people here who would argue otherwise, but this has really been a terrible expansion for alts. It’s almost impossible to keep 2-3 toons relevant if you are pushing any type of content.
Turn off Warmode if you need the WQ. Turn it on if you want to PVP. At least you have a choice in retail.
Are you?? Am I??
/whispers I know I’m not a stinking human
There is such a thing as game fatigue and when a game has too many progression time sinks it can turn a player off. WoW could be the poster child for this and as much as I love the game it is the reason I consider myself a casual now because I need breaks from the game. As a result I hardly ever raid and I don’t even bother joining a guild.
I started raiding in wrath and I don’t ever recall having to grind reputation on each and every character that I wanted to raid with.

Because they want you to buy those boosts. They make money that way. $60 a pop is the cost of an entire retail game… every time you do it.
So why cant they offer another $60 bid to bypass all time gated material such as essence and rep grinds?
At what point would we be paying them to NOT play their game?
The move away from account bound rewards shows that they have lost touch of what many players want.
If the essence system was account bound it would fuel an explosion of player activity on alts.

And those alts would be getting leveled instead of boosted at $60 a pop.
Yea, Blizzard royally screwed up the game in terms of professions and side progress. There’s too many RNG based, soulbound mats that you need to farm over time to progress. It makes switching your main extremely difficult. I’m not sure what I want to main, but I just keep playing my Mage since all the progress is done on him. I’m not necessarily enjoying myself, I’m just overwhelmed at the thought of trying to get my Pally, Priest, or Warrior up to snuff.

Not exactly I already have 8 other 120 alts that are collecting dust.

So you logged into an alt, realized you had to play that alt to earn rewards you logged out. Alts are not mains, we have plenty of catch up mechanics in game to help alts jump right into content. Nothing else is needed.
I dont intend to play an alt as a main nor be given rank 3 all essences, what I would argue is that its not account wide due to (Character Progression).
