I haven’t played in a few expansions but holy moly. Crafting is such a nightmare to get into now. Everything has it’s own special thing, to do this and that. You need to do this and that other thing. It literally makes even just wanting to craft simple gems annoying and convoluted. I’ve watched a bunch of videos and still so much doesn’t make sense. Everyone doing videos is like “well heres all this stuff we already know, and heres whats different in midnight”. I need a literal ground up how to do professions
But the simple fact I need to research for hours and hours just to figure out how to make simple crafts now is ACTUALLY insane.
Yeah, whatever motivation I had to do actual crafting (or even try to max it out at any point) pretty much died in DF. I finally accepted that and dropped JC for Herbalism with Midnight.
I fully understand the system and I agree with you. it’s too much. I understand there’s people where crafting is just their entire end-game cuz they love playing the AH but jesus. The benefits are great but the effort is so annoying.
I engage with crafting significantly more since DF than I ever did before. I never used my alt’s professions prior to DF, I’d level them and then ignore them. Now it’s an engaging and rewarding system. Incredibly easy to make gold.
The ideas they had are neat. But in the end, its still the same problems.
People will power level the profession to max, and forget about it, only doing so to fill out the Profession Page, or attempt to do it and mess up like I did, or exploit and ruin the fun for everyone else.
People straight up lie to you about if they can craft something because they didnt like how much gold you sent. “Ooops, all out of concentration”, then post a macro saying they can do what you wanted.
17% chance to Multicraft means jack nothing when you make a hundred bottles and only get two extra.
The massive amount of qualities on gear ensures you will always lose profit when leveling a profession.
Drop rates of certain items are always far too rare to start, and then get flooded by an overcorrection: See what is going to happen to Petrified Root.
Patron Orders are clogged by requests for things you will NEVER obtain. I am NEVER going to PvP enough to buy ANY recipe for a Competitors item.
I am NOT making Alastor a purple profession item for a 30 Moxie.
And of course, the largest most glaring issue? If you screw up your initial KP alotment, you WILL be unable to ply your wares in Trade.
I’ve played every expansion since they revamped it and I still have trouble with it. I don’t have the attention span to try to compete with the goblins so I just gather.
crafting is great. it was snooze fest get max and ignore for the rest of the expansion before. if you find it too complicated or too convoluted, that’s a you problem. there’s no researching for hours and hours unless you are unable to read
I think its strange that people are willing to go to a website and write a post about crafting, but going to a website to read about crafting is just too much.
Yeah, that is definitely a problem. They should do something like limiting the lower level gear, the kind that you tend to level up with, to 2 qualities. That way, and least SOME of the level up stuff should be top quality.
As it is, your only use is to send some it to an Enchanting alt for disenchanting… which is still a loss, but it’s often more than you could sell the gear for.
All of my professions cost less than 50k to get off the ground, and most of them made over half of that back selling the crafted items. I made gold leveling JC to 70 somehow.
