I think most doing Cata, just missed it first time or quit during cata and want to try it again. I personally liked Cata well enough, but have zero interest in classic. Unless i completely miss an expansion, i would never do it as classic.
Completionists have a hard time with wow, but that’s not me. I just do what seems fun and don’t worry about not getting something or missing something here or there. I have plenty of mogs and mounts, so really only play as an escape from reality.
I feel that, but not so much with quests.
It’s all the gear upgrade, crests, catalyst or whatever stuff I CBA with. I like the simplicity of better gear just dropping and me equipping it.
good lord, doing the allied races 2 or 3 years too late. I needed to take cartography classes to figure out how to unlock some of those races.

This is what the modern devs don’t grasp. Vanilla WoW was just Blizzard simplifying what existing MMO’s did poorly. The goal was to make a simple, fun, MMO that anyone could play. And it worked.
Its very confusing. Its overloaded with crafting materials. Too many currencies. Too many levels of gear. And the list goes on. They really need to prune this game down. Im glad im not the only one who thinks so.
There is an overload of content to do when you to max level, and it is confusing. Just don’t try to take it all in on the first week.
I’m “old” too, and I know just what you mean! However, it’s not only the game that’s more convoluted and unnecessarily confusing - its ALL of modern life!
Today, I was simply searching the web for a wrist brace and I was BOMBARDED with blinking add’s covering the screen every second - I had trouble closing them all just to see the content I wanted. I gave up my search just because of the ad bombardment. The first time I heard of AI I thought to myself “this is bad, very bad” and I was right! Even websites where I have a PAID account subscription (Amaz…) are now bombarding me with ads!
Install an ad blocker. I haven’t seen an ad on anything including youtube in almost 20 years.
It’s not just you. Don’t try to take it all in on a day, focus on few things. I honestly recommend doing TWW content, the previous expansions are much worse with so many currencies and useless reputations like cobalt assembly.

I saw something a couple weeks ago where they’re now perfecting how to create AI generated TV personalities, news commentators, etc. They look and sound just like a real person on camera. Think about that for a bit. It’s very worrisome if we cannot even trust that what we’re being fed is “real”. I realized we’re already there to some extent but this will eliminate the last threads of truthful information, and trust.
They literally have different markers for this stuff. It’s listed IN your quest log. They even have a specific spot for your campaign quest in the quest log.

I’m not confused but it’s alot it’s almost too much then they already released the road map and I’m like huh?.. there are so many changes…all I want to do is play my char without worrying about I have to change my play style because they changed the way the char plays. Spells buffs debuffs etc…Its turning me off…Everytime I think ok I will play today My mind goes oooh no…I have to do the renown grind and the delve grind and the profession grind…and I don’t sign on.because I also know by the time season 4 gets here . everything will be changed all over again
Yea this is where my priorities are as well.
But I don’t actually think it’s too many buttons (maybe a couple) it’s really too many passives. And the talent tree just has too many impactful nodes.
But some players like the complexity. So idk, maybe do something like Normal, Heroic, and Mythic talents. It’s an idea.
I see more and more of these types of threads lately. I myself started WoW in my late 20s and now I’m almost 50 - my brain capacity isn’t what it used to be yet there’s always more and more to keep track of in the game. Those forces kind of work against each other, but that might be why I’ve settled into this game mode where most of what I do is Mythic+ and I just don’t worry about other FOMO too much.
Its not just you. Ive talked to many people in game that feel that same. Just few are saying it out loud cause they feel like they are the problem.
