Does anyone else feel the same about farming coffer keys? Why aren’t they transferrable to other characters if there is a limit to how many bountifuls you can do in a day? I know why they exist, but I can’t help but get annoyed each week that I need to farm more keys to open the big chest at the end of a delve. I wish I had a solution to coffer keys, but sadly I do not.
This post is more of a temp gauge to see if im the only one who feels this way about them. I really hope there is plans to rework how you obtain keys or just removing them all together.
You can run bountifuls without keys if all you want to do is unlock vault and get crests…
Though, I don’t find the key acquisition to be too onerous. You can get at 4 keys in less than an hour. The two in K’aresh take 20-30 minutes. This character currently has 12 keys in possession and all my alts have 4-8 currently.
I couldn’t tell you… its like when they capped the delv path. I was only planning on running delves while my PC was waiting on a part. Now I gotta go out of my way to finish it off.
They tolerate world first guilds splitting runs to get the equivalent of six full heroic clears for the race. I can’t understand the logic of time gating rewards only valuable to normal and early heroic raiders.
Making them transfereable would be great because gear from delves reaches a point where its no longer needed om that character. I dont think beimg able to have a chance at champiom gear on alts is too much of an advantahe
Coffer Keys exist to make it so folks do more than just run Delves, get their gear, and then call it a day. By making it so you have to participate in activities to get Coffer Keys this enables them to be able to keep the bountiful delves rolling throughout the week, as opposed to being a hard cap of “These many exist throughout a week.”
In short, they fulfil essentially the same purpose as Valorstones: encouraging players to participate in more activities than just sitting afk inside of Delves farming them non-stop.
You get keys by playing the game, so… as long as you play the game, you don’t run out of keys is how that thing works. Removing that would be plausible but Delves would have to be reworked in such a way that likely would make them feel quite a lot worse.
I’m very annoyed they’re not a guarantee from the… whatever its called… the world quest where you do three world quests to unlock it things?
Also I really don’t like that they exist at all. Your bountiful chest should be limited by just completing a number of them per week like everything else is and then become a chance to get gear and leave it at that. The extra need to funnel me through other types of content when I really just want to do the Delve is annoying.
I also would absolutely love to transfer them between characters.
Now its enough that I’ll tell people about it and post here on the forums that I’m annoyed… but like. Its not the end of the world for me either.
Because I understand why they have them in the game, but I still wonder if there is a better solution to the problem they are supposed to solve which you stated here:
Just wanting to see if folks feel like the system is perfect as is or if they are like me and wish there was a different way to open the bountiful chest.
These are the WoW forums. You’ll always be able to find someone who agrees with you, same thing as you do on Reddit, or anywhere else online. The problem is that folks could agree with someone based on “I don’t like it and have no issues acting in bad faith to argue my position.”
So… sure. You can always find others who agree with you, but that’s just looking for people who share your particular view. Which is just another way of saying that you are looking for people to confirm your biased view on the topic.
Could it be done another way? Sure. Should it be done another way? Potentially, but I have no idea and can’t think of a better way than to rely on some kind of currency if not the system we have right now but something akin to the system we have now. It doesn’t mean it isn’t possible, but the question at that point is … what would that system be like, to make it distinctive from what we have now that still fulfil the same functions but also does something else that at least in theory should work better?
To that, I don’t have an answer. It doesn’t mean that what we have currently is perfect, but until one can at least theorize what the answer to this is, the answer is likely going to be “It is good now so… why break it?”
I’ve reached my limit already on how many mindless world events I can do for shards/keys. I’ve never experienced burnout with wow before and I really don’t like it. I’ve already sidelined two of my characters due to it and stopped chasing keys on the other 5. I’ll get the heroic gear from map and vault and save the remaining champion pieces for transmog using veteran gear I can now purchase or, if an event happens before end of season.
I don’t have any good ideas for the system other than giving shards for all world activities so even if I’m doing a quest, world quest, event, delve, dungeon, I would be getting shards. Basically spread it out so there are more choices and less burnout.
Maybe changing the system to percentage chance of drops like dungeons so you can do them as many times as you want. Or maybe just restricted by bountifuls each day.
