I just want housing's basic features to function

At this point I just want the basic features that make up housing to literally function at all normally. It is a CONSTANT battle with the UI and the swarm of bugs that plague this system which is monetized.

I just went and wanted to try to do more housing stuff after taking a few days break from it because of the constant bugs. First thing I see in the room I’m working on is that random decors have LITERALLY MOVED BY THEMSELVES AND CHANGED ANGLES BY THEMSELVES. I fixed the angles (after a war with the decors going absolutely mental when editing the angle) and then logged out.

I genuinely can’t understand how that’s acceptable. This is quite literally the equivalent of a save ‘feature’ not working in a game. That defeats the purpose of MOST GAMES.

I agree.

Or you have a poltergeist.

Snapping things to 90 degrees from their normal orientation is the only consistent bug I’ve come across since this feature launched, and the workaround is trivially easy: Rotate it yourself without holding shift, and it will not move on its own.

Ok, I lied. Interactable objects moving to some random spot nearby after you’ve placed them is also something that’s cropped up fairly recently. But again there is a simple way to deal with it: Just pick them up and place them again, either with the placement tool or the move tool in advanced mode. After that they will stay where you put them.

Should these bugs be fixed? Obviously. But the hyperbole in the OP is laughable.

I forgot to put a link to my poltergeist footage I collected on housing

Oh, yes! The “you can’t click on this item” bug that I get when placing beams and walls. Such a great thing to work around.

Periodically a specific silvermoon tile will still rotate out of place in one of my rooms. I don’t think it will stop.

One of my friends designed the exterior of his house, but never returned to work on his house afterwards. He used an Aurora build that surrounds the original Human house in Silvermoon tiles, but since he’s never returned to maintain the house there are some tiles that have rotated like 60+ degrees.

It’s kind of funny, the rotating pieces give you an idea of who never visits their house. It’s like the in-game equivalent of never mowing your lawn.

Damn that’s awful

how old is that footage?

the “balls” haven’t appeared in edit mode for a while now.

the issue at around 1:30 seems to only happen when standing directly on top of what you’re trying to move. Stand back a bit.

‘that footage’ is the beginning of the video only

yeah i could see that the “balls” were gone in later clips

they’re still there, they’ve just disappeared off into the far distance.

not sure if this is contributing to the weird flippy-flip of items

OP I LOST IT at demonic possession    :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

Your video earned a like from me as did your OP. I do not have much to add unfortunately - I agree with you. The system seems unfinished or a tad unpolished and I doubt, given the game’s age, we’re gonna get any better if I am being pessimistically honest.

Love your build and your video.

I am also pessimistic especially after they fixed the wall bug which immediately then became the floor bug. This video is part 1 and it was mostly made using things I can log on and immediately demonstrate, big sadness

I’d like clarity on what is supposed to work or the intention of the designers. Some things that I might call bugs come from me forcing things, like pushing items into walls. We have had zero communication from Blizzard, the designers don’t even use blue posts for news – they use that stained twitter thing.

So, they are constantly fixing things, it seems to me. But we never know if it has been fixed and assume some things don’t work because they didn’t before. I think that it is a shame to see these changes during the early part of housing when we are at our most adventure-ness.
