Illidan in Legion is not like wc3 Illidan. Like at all. Most of his flaws are removed as well as his self serving nature. In trying so hard to offset TBC, they ended up writing a version that kinda just doesn’t line up with any prior depiction. I would be surprised if anyone who only knows him through legion, knows he’s actually addicted to magic, for example.
Vashj should not be depicted as this good guy actually. Ideally Kael’thas shouldnt be given a ‘good guy’ story either because the nuance of his situation in the blood elf campaign is what made him awesome, same as the TBC belves.
