Really its what we have for dislikes now. People may not have found it offensive but just couldn’t get behind OPs steaming pile of a take, so they voiced their disapproval in one of the few means we now have.
Blame the infamous John Q. Blizzard rather than the community.

You’re not forced to do them. I like them, and blizzard confirmed that they WILL come back every expansion. It is a new pillar of WoW, just like raiding, mythics, and pvp is. Get over it.
The whole game is optional.
Delves feel terrible
Just like the wq’s back in Legion, and BFA. The people that didn’t like wq’s whining like someone was twisting that arm making them do every single wq every day, when it was the person that stares back at them in the mirror every morning was the only one forcing them to do them. That is why there is outside of leveling to level cap very little world left in this game since Legion, and BFA, and nothing but instancecraft now.

I like delves. I want to see what tier 4 and beyond brings.

It’s not even great for gearing right now because they’re capped at an insanely useless low level. It’s like judging M+ based on normals.

Actually, it doesn’t sound ridiculous at all!
The loot you get is based on difficulty. You can only do up to tier 3 now. But the keys are kept week through week, so you can do more bountiful delves in S1 start if you have more keys for higher tier loot. Gearing doesn’t mean much right now.
I like them, they mean I’ll have something to do to stay somewhat relevant when my group goes on break halfway through the expansion like they always do. Sure, they’re a bit boring, but at the very least they take a half hour tops.
I’ve had a few toxic M+ groups and I’m really bad at PvP so I’m just bored while sitting at the GY waiting for respawn. I’m not having fun and I’m not enjoying queuing either. I hope these never ever return.

Right, but they suck and it would have been nice if they were actually fun so it was some additional content that is enjoyable rather than hot garbage. At least let me use one of my Warband alts instead of idiot Brann that stands on top of all the clickable loot.
Sounds like the OP wants to be able to control who gets to see content and get gear. Sorry but I honestly hope Delves are here to stay so people like you can’t control who gets to enjoy the game and get gear.
Or maybe he wants Blizzard to hear his concerns and put some effort into coming up with some better solo content that doesn’t suck?
One thing I will say is that Brann is underwhelming so far. I don’t know what it is, but he doesn’t feel nearly as impactful. I think having traditional talent tree for him would be better. Or least make his numbers be displayed in Details.
