I heard you have to Min max to complete raids in Classic

I mostly meant that they’ll be taking less damage because the fights are shorter due to the DPS being higher. Also, with the resistances baked into some gear, the overall damage taken will be lower even if the duration of the fight remains the same. Higher armor values, also means physical attacks are less damaging.

DPS and healers don’t need Defense to mitigate damage, because they’re rarely taking auto attacks.

Well, there is a minimum “cookie cutter” you start with, i.e. one of every buff and useful debuff. From there, you get a nice balance of healers, ranged, and melee to make sure you’re capable of downing every boss even if all of the ranged or all of the melee are gimped by the mechanics.

For example, Baron Geddon. That fight would be a royal pain in the rear with nothing but melee, so you invite a healthy amount of Mages.

Everyone gets a fair “shake.” We’re going to bring a bunch of Warriors and they’re all going to get their chance at the loot. Just because it is inevitable that someone is the first person to get the loot doesn’t change that fact.

We’re not inviting people who are concerned with being the first one in the guild to have full epics. Those kinds of people are not healthy for your raid’s progression.

Well, that’s definitely the kind of guild I’m in, but I don’t think you have to be in that kind of guild for optimizing and min/maxing to be valuable. It benefits people of all skill and dedication levels to play a stronger spec and bring a stronger team.
