They have that, it’s called The Sims. There are 4 of them with various expansion packs and various spinoffs.

Sir, I don’t know what game you are playing, but I don’t think it’s World of Warcraft: The War Within :tm:

80’s style scene between the parents on a hot summer’s day amongst the flamingos, who’s soulless black plastic eyes witness it all in symbolism of society’s growing addiction to second hand affection and titilation

Do you not know what Mages used to get up to with Portals?

The Gamer Within. That said, the hilarity of an Adventurer going out not for honor, glory or the fate of the world, but because Child Support is ex-pen-sive and they are ‘The Bard’ character.

Okay, now that I’ve shaved my unibrow away, let’s tackle this seriously.

While the ability to make an NPC family is something I have floated before, like a lot of things that float, upon closer inspection, it just needs a second flush.

Especially considering the current state of the world, or rather, certain parts of it that are trying to tell 50% or more of the population that they don’t have the rights to control their own body and that a nation founded on freedom from religious leadership has now fallen under the sway of incredibly old and evil people using religion as a socially acceptable cover for their malice and insanity.

The concept of being able to generate a NPC family for the players is actually a good idea for story and world building, after all, we didn’t just spring whole out of the starting areas, where are our parents, our siblings, our spouses, our extended family, childhood friends, etc etc? We just kinda :cloud:poofed:cloud: into existence like one of Naruto’s Shadow Clones and proceeded to save the world every other day.

But given Blizzard’s moderation efforts, their over-use of interns and lowest-bidder level automation to cut corners in said moderation, the toxicity of non-RP servers and the surge of hateful types running their mouths in Trade and Global channels about how President Elmo and Vice-President Slump are gonna let them shoot all the PoCs and LGBTQI+ folks now is probably the biggest reason we should not let this happen, because you just know these angry little one-inch-wonders are gonna make disgusting ‘families’ in the vein of Game of Thrones or 1700’s plantation owners.

I do wish Blizzard had given us a rival/friend in the starting zones that we’d run into again and again through the leveling campaigns to give players a sense of how far they’d come, and how ‘hard’ their characters would have had to have worked to get this far, and depending upon how you react to and with that Rival/Friend, would determine how they see you.

A Rival might hate you, but they still recognize your skills and use you as a scourge to whip themselves onwards, if only to finally surpass you and prove they’re better than you at all costs, while a Friend might see your competition as bettering you both, and treat the situation as a friendly competition much like your sparring sessions back in the starting zone.

There’s also the issue of, if you could make your family, how does Blizzard do this? 1:1 male/female of course, but what about gay couples? Lesbians? Polycules? Characters who are Ace or Aroace? Players who want to be the teenager going out to support their elderly parents? Single parents leaving their children in the hands of a caretaker? There’s a lot of options that would need to be included that just are too much effort for too little pay-off, from Blizzard’s perspective.

Through all my Sims 4 misadventures, I don’t recall a ”pregnancy cinematic.” If there ever is such a thing, I hope it’s a montage of morning sickness, swollen feet, and tooting each time the baby kicks the colon, all to the tune of “Isn’t She Lovely” in Simlish.

Y’know, just capturing the true joys of being pregante.

I don’t trust the weirdos who play this game to have the option of summoning kid NPCs to private instanced locations like player housing, but a spouse would be cool.

I’ve wished for years that they’d kept and updated the Legion system of letting a follower accompany you on world quests. I think I even floated the idea that you could earn them via world quests, rare drops from bosses, holiday events, etc. Might cause lag to let them be summoned in capital cities and expac hubs, but otherwise old zones should be fair game.

Even if it wasn’t a “spouse” in the way you can have them in Skyrim, they could be repurposed for RP if there was enough variety.
