I have a bone to pick with Faerin

The problem is the way it was executed, honestly. Anduin so far has yet to do anything of note this expansion, have a badass moment or something.

The argument regarding DEI, from what i read, is that the character was made as a race/gender representative with nothing compelling. It’s because it has become a cliche, to make a character thats not memorable and whose only attribute is the gender/race.

Case in point: The main villain of the film “The Marvels”. There’s nothing memorable about her at all outside being a black woman: there’s no attempt to make her compelling or interesting. DEI addition is meant to refer as a way to note that the only thing of note of this character is race/gender because the character itself has nothing memorable or compelling.

It’s not the gender/race being the issue, its the fact the character has absolutely nothing memorable or compelling in the first place, and what are minor footnotes are the only things that seems to stand out.

People don’t call DEI additions to characters like Allura in Voltron:Legendary Defender because they are compelling, well written and stand out. Other examples: Black Panther wasn’t called a DEI addition because he was a genuinely interesting and compelling character on his own right.

Read and understand the entire argument before you reply, please. It gets old having to clarify it every single time.

Anduin was like this in Legion too, so its a recycled plot thread with minor modifications. But Anduin also had memorable moments, such as the short questline in the broken shores or using the light to kill a dreadlord in a short story. No such thing happened in TWW so far.

You need to stop assuming DEI automatically means “racism”, it doesn’t. Get it through your skull. What people criticizes is the writing or uninteresting characters that have nothing memorable or interesting, as i said above. DEI addition is purely a snark to imply the writers are so lazy that outside gender/race, they can’t think of anything good to make the characters work. There are too many examples of black, women or both that never get called DEI additions because they are well written.
