I explained my thoughts many posts ago about why your guild app chat was possibly inappropriate. It wasn’t about how polite you think you are, but in the way you present your beliefs and had to throw in a dig about “offending” others instead of just sticking to things relevant to a WoW guild
However, if you were banned within a day of posting that, I’m thinking you were probably hit for something else. Same day account action seems unlikely.
I’ve met some impolite individuals who share my own general beliefs, and I’ve met some very kind and generally polite folks with very different beliefs.
being polite is merely the vehicle with which you share things to others. philosophies, generally, aren’t innately polite or not. we can politely disagree while also holding polar opposite opinions, I think.
Isn’t the lore foundations “Whatever GW wants to do to sell overpriced resin models?” It’s never been consistent.
I’m more amused at how the anti-woke people can’t make up their mind, you’ve got one faction who think it’s a masterpiece of antiwokeness because stompy marine with gun, and then the one who think it’s woke because trans writer, and the squad has non-white marines, and there are women in command in the Imperial Guard
Far left/right will never die off because the conditions that leads people to that kind of thinking can’t be fully eliminated. You add in more global instability, and those groups actually get stronger because fear makes it very easy for these groups to start to sell “easy solutions” to extremely complex global problems
meh, quick look around the socials you get to pick whats ok to talk about, whats causing the most rage today, was it the left who are right today or is it more the right that’s right.
and yes being more center myself, both sides have their points about a lot of things
there’s a joke that if you’re center you’re hated by everyone, just don’t sway to far one way and you’ve got ‘content’
JD Vance is arguably the prime political example of the Peter Principle at work.
His rise has been so meteoric that you almost can’t tell whether it’s just raw ambition or him riding the wave. Rather disquieting considering he has all of the on-paper qualifications for significantly high office (Yale education, military vet, private business success, current Senator), yet he has absolutely none of the charisma that you’d associate with someone who has managed to attain so much in so little time.
But as the Peter Principle dictates, he’s been arisen to a point where his multitude of deficiencies are becoming readily apparent. Ohio is relatively important politically, but not many people outside of Ohio and outside of the political sphere really paid attention to his successful Senate run in 2022. The only notable thing was his gargantuan flip-flop on his views of Trump between 2015 and 2022/now, but in terms of how he ran as a politician, very little.
We’re seeing it now, and he’s astoundingly bad at it. Great for my side of the political aisle, but if and when he and Trump loses, I think Vance is politically cooked even in Ohio. The Dems will be chomping at the bit concerning the 2028 election, and I’m sure there are plenty of Republicans who will see Vance as the millstone around Trump’s neck concerning this election and will either convince him to step aside or outright primary him in 2028.
In fact, I can see Vivek mounting a challenge against him.
No I’m just expecting a week long vacation and the guild I found will have moved on without me. Super fun. \o/
It’s the only thing I can think of that I’ve said in chat recently that would even remotely get me in trouble.
There is only one slur I throw around, but it’s not because it’s a slur, it’s a word that people my age used as a general purpose swear word since forever. Starts with an F, you know what one I mean.
Obviously not in any games or around people I know it would irritate, I am capable of controlling myself.
I don’t really care enough to go dig through posts and find it, but if I remember properly: I threw in the bit about “offending” people because oftentimes I will be having totally inane conversations, and then something I said just throws someone totally off, and they start foaming at the mouth or crying to the GM. It’s why I stopped bothering with guilds.
One time I joined a guild and joined their discord, they clicked on my Twitter link 'cause it’s in my discord bio, then immediately kicked me from the guild and banned me from their discord because I openly share my opinions on Twitter and they got very upset with me saying someone like me doesn’t belong in their guild.
And I’ve been posting looking for a guild (with basically the same message, maybe modified a little saying I just rerolled Horde so I’m releveling, or something along those lines) for about a week and a half now.
don’t y’all find it creepy or offputting that there is quite literally a very obvious gate to power? your chances of being in a position of major power dwindle if you haven’t been in an ivy league school.
To be honest, this is simply an issue we can solve within a year. Voting in the US is archaic. If we modernize our voting systems to be fully electronic, then we would have a greater voter turn out. Then “well-informed”, and especially younger voters, will participate more often. We also don’t need the electoral college, it’s anti-democratic in principle. Right now, the only states which matter are “swing states” – making voters disenfranchised in non-swing states, especially CA, where half the counties are Republican.
And there are numerous voter suppression attempts in these swing states, like Georgia. It’s all caused by electoral college. We could easily work with the Popular Vote model in the US, but that requires an amendment to the Constitution.
As if it did people would want to make the IP more about gender and a good chunk of the unwashed male audience already invested in tabletop 40k will walk away and possibly kill the franchise off.
