I got a promotion!

I’m extremely excited, as my efforts have been recognised over the other 4 employees in my team. I’m sorry seeing someone receive good news upsets you.

You might just want to tone it down a bit  maybe title your thread like - I got a promotion! instead of how much you got. Some people are lucky to just keep their jobs at the review cycle…

Fake it until you make it. That is how business is done.

Since OP you now have $20k additional income (before tax but whatever), can you pay for my subscription?

A 20K boost in compensation isn’t that implausible.

My wife worked part time selling flowers at a large store. She had 12 hours per week. Her supervisor got into a fist fight with another employee at the store and was fired. She was promoted to his position. While it only came with a $1.50 bump in pay, her hours increased from 12 to 36 per week. That alone was an increase of $18,000 per year. Add in benefits (medical, dental, life insurance, 401K) and it is closer to an increase of $35,000 a year. This is a basic retail job.

A stranger is discussing his/her personal finances on the wow Forums.

It doesn’t belong here.

You never know what you can do until you try it… and things you used to think were hard are now easy by comparison. If the worst you can do is fail, then why not try?

Not a stranger to many of us who actually participate in the forums, my dear.

And this is for the mods to decide, whenever they feel like moderating.

Unless your besties friends and know everything about the OP which I seriously doubt you do then he is a stranger.

You don’t know anything about him other than he is active member of the forums. This doesn’t qualify as a friend or someone you know.

Fun with numbers.

Friend of mine worked as a supervisor at a grocery store. Moved up to manager, took her pay from 21k a year to 48k. That’s not even an unrealistic jump, to be honest. Supervisors at a competitors business make on average 10.67 dollars an hour, line level employees get 7.25 (dat minimum wage). The manager at that business makes 44k. If the supervisors had 40 hours guaranteed (let’s be real here, most don’t), then that’s still a 23k jump.

By that count, everyone I work with is a stranger, because we aren’t besties and I know very little beyond their names, what foods they tend to eat, and sometimes their hobbies with bits of trivia sprinkled in.

Funny enough, even my brother qualifies as a stranger by your super specific definition of what a stranger is. Think you’re looking for acquaintance.

Hmm, that’s not exactly being fair, that’s not what they were saying.

I work for a Digital Marketing company. I worked for a similar company beforehand, in which I was a Client Service Manager, with a team of 8. That experience got me a job with this company as a Quality Control Coordinator. I have only been here a month, however, due to my manager resigning this morning, I was offered the position due to the experience I had previously.
I was a well respected manager with my last employer, and I have a few employees here now that I used to manage, who I will now manage again, so I’m sure I will do well again.
