I give up on tanking

hell if the dps want to tank mobs for me then that’s a win win. Makes my job easier lmao

You’re level 17…

I was in a rfc run today. We all let the tank get threat and sheeped adds instead of attacking them. Also everyone has been nice to me save for 3 or 4 asshats (yeah I’m bringing it back).

Don’t let it get you down man. Keep goin.

A reminder of why I rarely tank a pug. Anyone whom hasn’t played private servers or back in Vanilla doesn’t have a full grasp of it. Even BC was different from Vanilla in many ways.

Don’t let that completely discourage you from tanking. Tank for friends and guild members. Acknowledge those willing to listen and be taught. Remove those not capable of doing so.

I did an SM Cath run a few days ago. Two frost mage, one priest, one rogue, one hunter. We had gave up on finding a tank and wanted to see how far we would get. No aoe pulls, just even tempo chain pulling with sheeps and traps as called for.

Whitemane’s Hat and the shield dropped.

You’ve upgraded yourself from victim to entitled tank. Given your words, you didn’t quit anything, you came to this forum to harvest sympathy and tell everyone else what to do.

There’s really no such thing as a tank at 17 anyway. It’s more trouble than it’s worth trying to actually tank at these lower levels. I think only the bosses require traditional tank and spank, everything else is just kinda free for all. This doesn’t change until 30-40 from my memories

Ain’t no one gonna be kicking tanks with how rare they are.

i was just starting to re-learn how to dps correctly come the level 30 dungeons because I started getting punished by pulling aggro.

I don’t know what level OP is because this forum is awful at updating the character’s Levels, but tanking is a thankless job until you’re in the 50s pretty much.

I just ran a dungeon yesterday that had a mage that didn’t know how to cast anything other than blizzard the second the tank pulled. We made it through the dungeon, but the mage died a few times. Dungeons before the 50s are so you can learn your class but still progress.

Cut bad DPS some slack (and also tell them what they’re doing wrong).

If you’ve tanked since BC, then you know the only thing hard to tank in BC was Shattered Halls.

Yeah, with Furor. Roar alone hasn’t been good enough threat spread for non-complient DPS, and (for now), the quickest way to distribute threat has been to powershift.

Swipe, shift, swipe, shift, enrage, roar, swipe x 2...

I know the frustration OP. But, like others have said, if the dungeon is getting done then you have done your job. If people complain about you keeping aggro then it’s a different story.

Most dungeons I’ve tanked a few messy pulls didn’t make us wipe but it was frustrating when you as the tank are trying to do your job so no one else takes damage, but the goal is to complete the dungeon and if that is happening then all is good.

If your party members are complaining then just let them die. They will eventually get the hint. Just be sure to always save your healer

Targeting the target of the tank doesn’t work because good tanks should be cycling targets. Mark the mob you want dead like a real tank. Sounds like you don’t know how to tank

The fun part is letting people learn that the tank NEEDS time to establish threat. Watching people die from this should be a popcorn moment for the tank. Long as you protect the healer DPS are a dime a dozen.

In classic Shield Bash costs 10 rage

I love watching DPS run around in a panic after they pull aggro. Sadly there are just too many pserver theorycrafters and BFA players right now that don’t know how to play the game.

Marks targets, and only taunt off the healer. If dps pulls aggro just let them tank it, it’s the only way they will learn to play.

Or, you know, get good. Is it that hard to sunder and occasionally taunt?

It’s not, which is why the actual problem is bad DPS, not bad tanks.

Getting purples for what? For getting to 60? /golfclap

Your reward to getting to 60 should be getting the next best gear - an assortment of greens and blues from dungeon runs

THEN, once you do some of that, you should be getting epics.

Good. I hate tanks that dont have the go go go mentality and just slow down the exp/hr.

As a healer, id rather have 4 dps than a tank any day, as long as the aggro isnt on me, idc.
