I give up on tanking

That’s kind of the point. If you are just planning on pulling and tanking 1 enemy at a time, well you don’t need a tank for that. Any pet class can do that. The advantage of a real tank is being able to tank multiple enemies at a time.

as long someone targets them, should be fine… I keybind alt 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7…

This weekend was pretty frustrating for me with the dungeon runs, even though I’m a DPS. I did notice several groups where no one waited for the tank to pull, completely ignored the symbol assignments, skipped through whole sections of dungeon content, didn’t bother to share quests, etc. One group wiped multiple times because the rogue decided to do all the pulling before the tank was ready. Mind you, I have had several positive dungeon run experiences, but the groups I ran with over the weekend were very discouraging.

Not in my experience… All thredruid tanks I’ve had have rocked it with no issues…

The warriors have sucked.

Just sticking with my on the field observations across factions and multiple characters.

Ok first things first… relax! Now, if you like tanking, get a thicker skin. It doesn’t matter what dps do. Believe it or not, you and/or the healer control the group. If a dps keeps pulling agro, let them have it. Dying will learn them eventually. Talk to your healer… tell him if a dps pulls agro, let them have it. When he dies, kill the mob and then rez them. I’ve tanked in every expansion (druid in vanilla actually). Shrug dumbasses off man. Dps wants the mob, np, here you go. They’ll learn. If they don’t or people quit etc, you’re a tank, just move on to the next group. Dumbass players are disposable. You’re a tank, you’re in demand. Move on.

Bear threat can actually be better than a warrior’s since it’s multiplicative rather than additive. The only advantage that warriors have over bears is mitigation.

If your willingly letting pets and other stuff tank for you your not generating any rage which means your not doing anything besides auto attacking for someone who “been tanking forever” I’d say your not very good at it fact is tank needs time to generate aggro I give 1 warning if they keep doing it I kick them easy to find dps.

Meh, tanking has been pretty good for me tbh, yes it does feel like a minigame/race against the DPSers who always seem be trying their hardest to get aggro but that’s the fun part imo, otherwise it’s honestly pretty boring to just sit there and eat hits.

Granted my experience has been with Druid not Warrior but I feel that keeping aggro mostly comes down to myself playing it right (except if I’m relatively under-leveld). You know the DPSers want to go nuts from the start so make sure you can do that too by keeping some rage pooled from the previous pull, as long as I’m prepared (with either rage pooled up or my Enrage ability ready) I’m usually able to keep aggro vs the DPSers relatively well, also be smart about how you use taunt, if the mob is at very low health it’s not worth taunting it, or if the mob is attacking a tanky member of the group that’s often fine too.

Yep you’re right. I am very bad at it. Thank you for your observation.

Its true. The dps is so bad. All the want is to top the damage meter at any cost.

It was getting very frustrated but now I just make sure they know that if they spank it they tank it. When the healer yells about mana I tell them to yell at the dps.

Not my problem. I am stress free now and finally getting out of the rough in a few levels.

Don’t you mean deadmall? Maybe it was Diremines.

As a war this is my experience too. Because druids get stats from their form. Do not rely on gear as much. This is also their downfall later.

BTW nice job linking the BFA version of Shield Bash

Haha, okay nerd.

Nah, unless its causing problems and your team is wiping then play as your team does.

Most 5 mans don’t even need a tank if pulls are moderate. 4 dps and a healer will clear most dungeons fast. Tanks make it safe. Tanks allow for bigger pulls which usually results in a bit more fun but not usually much faster than 4 dps doing moderate pulls. If you are feeling useless as a tank the reason is because you are. Seek harder content or weaker companions.

Tanks are required when the team is slightly under leveled, which is probably the best time to do a dungeon, so thank your tank if you are dungeoning at min level for the content.

Are you serious bro?

You actually linked the BFA version of Shield Bash for your argument?

Tanking is no fun if you can’t hold aggro on all the mobs you pull. This is why there are so few tanks. The role is treated as completely trivial by dime-per-dozen DPS.

My experience so far, with AOE dpsers is that Druids in fact hold aggro in that situation better than warriors, at least up lvl 42 (where I am now). But if the run goes Non-AOE (mostly) then warriors can handle the groups smoothly and without any losses at all. With fast AOE dps runs, adrenalin is a rush for sure because (possible) chaos is around every corner.

Sounds to me like you aren’t tab targeting mobs to keep threat up. You should run a threat addon like threat plates if you’re having trouble. You could be itemized/spec’d wrong, but this sounds like more of a player experience issue. Don’t compare classic to retail, they aren’t the same thing.

Druid tanks generate threat better than warriors until BWL where their gear finally catches up, in fact druids are better tanks overall until BWL then they even out into their respective roles.
