I gave Shadowlands an real chance and

Lets get this straight… all grinds in classic / TBC / that era of wow had a finite goalpost you worked towards… it was a “grind” in that a slow steady pace that wears you down/you wear down.

Modern wow does not have that sense of grind… everything is relative to time (subscription) … look at reknown is it a grind? Well yes there is a series of content that must be done to unlock it… HOWEVER you cant simply go grind it… its time gated, even now a fresh alt has a cap on theit catch up ability… I routinely see callings that show reknown as a reward and then when handing in I either dont get it or get it once then not again because of some behind the scenes gating.

Ilvl rewards from WQ/solo content are now also downgraded and not determined by the difficulty of content… I hate the manipulation… just give us rewards and let us work towards them stop doing sneaky lets milk subs type stuff. Spend more time polishing game less time manipulating behaviour or forcing covenant choices on us that we dont want.

You said in your title that you gave SL a real chance, but your post states otherwise.

Ya grinding earthstrike was a blast. Running back and forth a thousand times between the camp and CH was exhilarating. Can’t forget trying to get exalted with argent dawn either. Running Strat 150times was super relaxing.

Do not play BDO then, lol. There are even areas you can grind gear by killing like 500 enemies. And I thought the kill 20 or so enemies in WoW was bad. 500 is insane for one piece of gear that isn’t even BIS imo.

But I feel you man/woman. I’m not even slightly interested in eternal grinds in games anymore. And Shadowlands seems to have more grinds the normal. :frowning:

but thats kinda under perspective. no one but yourself sets your limits in wow its your own expectations that gage that.

Like i don’t do torgast unless i feel like it nor do i do all my calling quest. i pick what i do thats fun and do things in my time.

no they aren’t

There literally is a difference. The biggest being that having that mount does almost nothing for you save some style points. As such, there was no real push to do them like clockwork. And most of the “grinds” were like that. Some offered some benefits, but they weren’t very game altering if you did or didn’t do them ASAPAP (that’s ASAP as possible). And most of those grinds allowed you to do as much or as little as you wanted.

You can say that, but you’ll be objectively behind other players if you don’t keep up. That wasn’t really true “back in the day”.

Now that I’m exalted with the covenant factions I doubt I’ll be doing the callings as much, unless there is a quest I actually enjoy doing or I need the anima. They nerfed the rewards so much. It used to give you a few thousand gold but now it’s like 200g worth of junk.

But atleast in BDO it’s visually impressive doing everything, personally I don’t play it, but damn the game looks good with the effects and combos.

but it was!! if you didn’t level fast enough or get gear fat enough you were left behind fairly fast. the reason it wasn’t a big deal is SO many people didnt keep up that it wasn’t a issue. people were playing for fun and didnt care.

that change has happened on the players end not blizzards. back in the day we didnt care about if other people hit max level but now we grind asap to ding

Im also not sticking around for long gonna take a break , come back slightly before next season , play the game a month or two , then break again . Stick around longer when i enjoy the current patch fully .

Its 2021 , way too many games out there to stick only to one all year long

I do love the classes. Some of them are really fun. The most fun class I’ve played in games was Kung Fu Master in B&S. He could block, trip, knock up, mount, pin and pound, and a crap ton of other moves. I use to be really good on him. BDO has classes that are almost as fun like the Mystic. Wish WoW could bring some fun back to the classes tbh.

But leveling and gearing isn’t a grind. Also, I would argue that the attempt to make gearing more “equal” made gear much worse. In vanilla (not classic) having MC or ZG epics meant you were better off comparatively than someone in retail in LFR gear.

And as far as leveling, Blizz has gone out of their way to make leveling easier to the point where you can literally buy your way past all but the last xpac. Not to mention that they made the game revolve solely around the most recent raid. To say this was a player issue isn’t correct.

like…if you’re not raiding heroic or mythic. and you’re not doing rated pvp you really gotta ask why we feel the need to keep pace SO much and eat up content so fast.

bc almost every reason is other players or ourselves

You’re still behind all the non-heroic and rated pvp players that do…

You can justify it all you want, but the reality is your player’s power is tied to your ability to fill bars on schedule.

I really disagree on the fact that i used to heroic raid and i had guildies that would GRIND everything… every world quest for artifact power and i never grinded.

i beat them on dps charts and i was happier playing knowing i wasn’t burned out on week 2.

not exalted on a rep with everyone else? i was a week or 2 behind at most.

trust me when i say as a raider myself! playing this game to its max doesnt do NEARLY as much to your power level as you think it does. playing this way has never held me back and has keep me from burning out and hating a new expack before we even got a new patch in.

You can justify it all you want. but the reason there are issues with wow is we datamined every bit on content before it even comes out.

we put deadlines on ourselves to keep up with other people doing the same thing.

we read guides on how stuff works before we even SEE it in game so its already not new to us.

and we let every choice we make like even our talents be up to mythic raiders who aren’t doing the content we are.

of COURSEthe game doesnt feel like it used to. we dont play it like we used to

What grinds ? The entire problem with SL is the fact most content lasts 10 minutes tops and then you get to wait till next week.

Rep grinds, anima grinds, renown grinds, ilvl grinds…there are grinds within grinds. IDK, maybe I am just playing the game the wrong way. :man_shrugging:
