After a couple weeks of talking to everyone on Twitch, and making some posts around the internet i found out where you can actually still get random BG queues to pop with locked xp. So i resubbed today and had a look.
Classic TBC Anniversary 69 bracket has been popping all day today. Currently there are 2 WSG games and 1 AB game happening. Seems to be pretty split with twinks on either side. Neato! I honestly thought twinking was completely dead across all the various versions of the game, but i guess its not.
So if youre sick and tired of the endless gear treadmill and just want to gear up once and be done with it so you can spam BGâs, you have an option. And its TBC.

Iâm here to tell you that 80-89 is popping very frequently on retail too.
Yeah there is normally a few loser twinks in the 81-89 bracket

Iâd prob do a healer though which lowers it down to 3.
But buying / farming the BiS, fully enchanting and gemming it spending thousands of gold in doing so is.

what options do level 80 players have who arenât geared out in the last expansions conq(grandfathered twink gear) if they want to compete in bgs while leveling? are they allowed to buy greens and enchant them?

If you want something easy, disc. But monk or pres is better of you use their toolkit properly.

Wait, im out of the loop i guess with retail. Can you lock XP in retail now? Or are you just talking about doing the various XP dodging tricks?
edit: After reading further i think you are talking about people who didnt buy Midnight and are locked into that 1 bg level? From what im reading though you cant ever gear enough to compete because the pvp gear is no longer available. Please correct me if im wrong.
If you are locked to the TWW expansion you remain level 80 at max.
This means level 80s can get best in slot gear from raids or if they have grandfathered or removed from game PvP conquest gear they can stomp levelers.
Every character I have at 80 has full conquest gear and usually caps out anywhere from 170k to 200k HP before buffs and proper enchants.
This is likely the closest definition of best in slot grandfathered twink we are going to get on retail.
Yes essentially if you are in full conquest gear, you are getting stomped or the enemy team will remain unkillable because even my healers are decked out in TWW Conquest gear. Mythic raid gear is the only thing that might come close to it.
I am not in the twinking scene (yet again). I might idk.
80 is seperate from 81-89 but the rest of your info is good
You would certainly classify as a twink in that gear. Some of the twinks at 80 are geared WAY less than that, and still find the company welcoming. 
Then thereâs the âtwinksâ that âproudly reportâ real twinks when they canât quite find the good stuffs themselves.

Yeah it is. Iâve levelled through to 90 in Pve before and I donât end up in full 198 gear through quest rewards.
You just really canât accept that players are doing this because you are one yourself.
