I find the dislike of the cash shop amusing

120 boosts are just a convenience item. they dont give you anything that you couldnt get just by spending a couple days leveling a new character, in fact they can even harm more than help if you were to boost a class that you haven’t played before.
tokens are just something there i guess. you can either use them for time or gold, but the amount of gold they give you isnt anything that would warrant concern

An MMO cash shop was the butt of many jokes over WoW’s lifetime. It was seen as something an MMO has when they can’t do great game content and are on their way out. The fact that WoW has gotten one implies that WoW can’t make good content anymore. No… cash shop items aren’t content, content is good game play.

cash shops are really just a sign of the current era we live in, where everyone is trying to make a buck off of something and is willing to be stingy to do it.

/facepalm says to self “she doesn’t get it…

So then it’s going from game development to basically a virtual department store. You no longer do good game development because you end up living off the whales that shop the online department store. WoW basically becomes Kmart.

at least they are trying to do good development. 8.3 looks promising and they are actually taking feedback into consideration. look at corrupted gear, earlier in ptr the negatives outweighed the positives but after that feedback blizz increase the bonuses by 2-3 fold.
Also, their making sure that the azerite grind isn’t infinite and instead making it easier to reach the cap

I don’t believe they are. Shadowlands is going to follow the same basic design game play wise that BFA, Legion, and on back to WoD has laid out. It’s just cookie cutter game design around an increasingly necessary online virtual department store.

The other thing they do which is extremely shady is sell $15 gift cards for $20. They get away with it by calling them tokens and hiding it with a two sided in game gold exchange, but in the end it’s $15 gift card for $20.

That’s cute, it’s actually free to play until 35, at which point you no longer are allowed to progress.

It’s completely free to play if you want to get technical.

The lengths that people will go to not educate themselves amazes me.

What’s cute about it? Free till 35? Can’t you play WoW free until 20 also? lol

Point being you were wrong, FFXiV is not free to play or buy to play like you tried to claim. lol

It’s still free.

Last I checked 35 was higher than 20.

Okay, then using that same logic WoW is also free. Nice.

Yeah WoW is completely F2P too. I can log into any of my characters under level 20 with no sub.

A free “trial” and locking 90% of the games content behind a sub fee doesn’t make it F2P.

Don’t forget we pay a subscription to play this game, lol… The last thing I want when I’m already giving money every month to play (and a larger chunk every 2 years to keep playing new things) is a shop being shoved in my face asking if I’d like to spend even more money for things unobtainable in the game that I’m already paying for.

Overwatch is probably the ideal shop for any game, should there HAVE to even be one, and Street Fighter 5 is by far one of the worst. Remember when games released completed and you could unlock everything in game? Overwatch is this balanced hybrid where you pay once for the game and can unlock bonuses and cosmetics (new and old) simply by playing the game. It’s updates and “DLC” done right. Leveling up isn’t hard, and there’s bonus objectives everywhere–They just want you to play the actual game. If you’re not getting what you want you earn gold by playing and unlock it when you can afford it… Making the randomness of their loot box system much more bearable for players who’ve unlocked a majority of the rewards. (speaking from experience)

Are we just going to ignore ESO and SWTOR then, or just focus on the 1 “wrong”?

Why would you put the word wrong in quotation marks? Are you really going to still argue and claim that FFXiV is free to play? lol

Gotcha.

Okay so yeah anyway.

Throws the point, it misses by your head and lands in France. :tokyo_tower: (I needed an Effiel tower looking emojo, this is the closest i’m gonna find.)

…Lets dissect this, yes it is small… for now, and their is a disproportionate amount of more stuff that is earnable in WoW then it is buyable, so kudos Given.

But that’s not what people are complaining about. Their complaining about the fact that it even exists. You can have the world’s smallest MTX shop with just one cosmetic and it’s just a drab crappy brown jacket and people would still have a problem with it (and rightly so cause it’s Microtransactions in a premium priced game with sub fees which is the important bit to remember, lest we forget Horse Armor DLC and pretty much every EA, Activision, Konami, Squienix some times, Ubisoft, Warner Bro’s, etc + these days, Bethesda and Rockstar Game ever made. )

Actually i have found something pretty nifty and it’s a site that reviews games for DLC/MTX and stuff like that, to see if they are littered with them or completely spotless. See WoW’s right here.

…Don’t ask me why they didn’t tag the other expansions as “Sub price” games, i guess their just doing it by “What expansion is it currently on”. (It is a site that started from 2018, but already my impressions were good. My Spyro is spotless ('Cept for Skylanders, but why would you want to count it as a Spyro Game exactly? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:) . ) :man_shrugging:

And WoW Tokens, Level Boosts and other services.

One new mount every 9-12 months isn’t very frequent imo.

This expansion alone has had like 6 mounts, thats a lot
