I legit switched factions when that went live, it felt that dumb.
The Eredar betrayed you, killed your friends and loved ones, committed genocide on a galactic scale, but now allegedly âfeel badâ after their leader died? Sure, bring ex-Legion members into the Alliance!
My aim, futile as it is, is to point out how the fandom is hypocritical with their dislikes and demands, and is ultimately no less at fault with the gameâs issues than Blizzard is.
Wonât matter if I donât, people will regardless and will start demanding more outlandish changes. If this keeps up, WoW will lose its identity, what makes it stand out from DnD or other RP games.
Why place a race if they can be whatever they want? Why play a class if they can do whatever they want? Why even have lore if no one is going to respect it?
Might as well sell the brand to Wizards of the Coast and make WoW part of the DnD world if this keeps up.
Blame the fandom. Its okay if they bend the lore but not Blizzard.
Again, who has both the view of âmore same-sex couples = badâ and âI ship Wrathion and Andiun, theyâre my OTP?â While Iâm sure there is a very very very very very small overlap between the two, but thatâs a whole different conversation that this post isnât about. But the ones being vocal about âwokeâ WoW are not going to be the ones reading and writing Wrathion x Anduin fanfic.
Plenty of people have complained about Horde in Belâameth. But to answer: not everyone who has issues with these things are talking about it on public forums.
People tend to speak up about things they donât like and remain silent when theyâre happy with what they have. Would it be good for those people to speak up? Sure. But if they donât want anything changed, why go out of their way to make a forum post? How do you know none of these people you donât hear from arenât submitting positive feedback in game through the submit feedback link?
If youâre gonna talk about being the only person who has a problem with x, y, and z, at least choose things that havenât been discussed on the forums. Different people have different views, thereâs going to be people against the things youâre talking about and for the things youâre talking about, but they arenât necessarily going to be the same people. Again, the community is not a hivemind, people having differing opinions is not a double standard, itâs a difference of opinion. You could even show someone who was saying how they were against all classes for all races now advocating for it, that wouldnât be a double standard necessarily because people can change their stance.
Understand that WoW is made for a large group of people, not just for you.
What may be an outlandish change to you may be a very desirable change for someone else.
What may be what sets WoW apart from other RPGs for you may be the thing someone else thinks WoW lacks in comparison to other RPGs.
You are free to disagree with any change WoW makes. Heck, you are free to disagree with every change WoW makes.
But remember: The game isnât just for you. Itâs for a whole lot of people.
Heck, I just came back to WoW after quitting 2 years ago, and you know what it is that made me want to play again? A friend of mine told me WoW had added Manâari Warlocks, something I had always wanted
People look down on a lack of subtlety, or a sense of being pandered too, not the couple itself.
Also, if it wasnât incredibly obvious already, thereâs a lot of people that play this game, that all have wildly varying opinions. Weâre not a hivemind (yet).
