I think one of the more disappointing things is we’ll likely never know what Sylvanas’ actual plan was or if it was even possible. It’s probably always going to remain vague, just “making things fair for everyone.”
If Sylvanas can’t feel emotions well it doesn’t necessarily prevent her from understanding the responses of others, she just wouldn’t be able to feel the emotions that dictate empathy.
So she’d understand how someone would react to things, she just wouldn’t be able to care.
Basically like forcing sociopathy on someone.

I think they are simply trying to tell a good story, and so far I’ve enjoyed it for the most part. SL is shaping up to the best expansion yet; so many interesting stories.

You’re treating Sylvanas as if she was still the ranger general during her entire undeath. Banshee Sylvanas and Ranger General Sylvanas are not the same person. They are 2 completely different characters. How you personally feel about it doesn’t matter. What matters is who the characters are as presented within the story.

Which is a frequent complaint around here noting the invalidation of Sylvanas as a character when anything she has done, accomplishment or failure, such as outwitting Anduin “I didn’t think we’d need gas masks” Wrynn, can be purely attributed to the writers, who then turn right around to have Anduin be the one to give Sylvanas a “Look around you!” lecture.
You have a disgusting, irrational, immature and ignorant perspective of Sylvanas to compare a video game character with fantasy characteristics to a real world person who is none of those things. At this point it is blatant harassment to call Sylvanas fans “genocide apologists” and I will be reporting every single post I see like this.

I feel bad for her because the writers ruined her with juvenile twists and incoherent behavior.
This. Lets stop pretending guys. I know some of you want to l like her. Hell, I want to like her.
But the writers butchered her.
We shouldnt be taking sides over this. This isnt about our opinion on a “complex” character anymore. This is a character whose been the victim of awful writing, and love her or hate her, it’s a real tragedy.
It’s the complete opposite, being unable to compare a fictional person to a real life person makes you immature and ignorant because it means you don’t have the imagination to entertain hypotheticals.
And being offended that a fictional character could be thought of as more ‘evil’ then the worst of the worst in RL is stupid because fiction is meant to go places reality cannot. Honestly if Sylvanas was magically transported into RL she’d be more evil then any RL human in existence, hell considering what she’s done she’s more evil then most villains in fiction.
In any case Sylvanas needs to be utterly dropped from the WoW franchise and killed off for good, she’s had too much attention and does nothing but ruin the story. And if Horde players wants to whine about a ‘Horde character’ being benched then feel free to have the same fate happen to Anduin cause he ruins the story in the opposite way.
God sakes I’m so sick of these hack writers taking a liking to certain characters and going “yep, time to bend the whole narrative around this character I like and the whole fanbase can suck it”. I guess we can all consider ourselves lucky that at least Me’dan doesn’t exist in the story anymore and hopefully never will, at least Anduin and Sylvanas were gradually turned into Mary Sues over a period of time, I shudder to think what would happen if there was a character in the game who was created solely to be the biggest mary sue in all of fiction.

Depends on what you mean by ‘fans’, let’s compare her to Thanos. I’m a fan of Thanos as a character (especially the MCU version) but don’t think he’s in any way redeemable and think if he did have a point he went about it the wrong way so would disagree if someone called me a ‘genocide apologist’. Now if I said that Thanos was right, and that half the Universe should be culled then calling me a ‘genocide apologist’ would be correct.
