Exactly what Nyoba said. Ret players all know it’s frustrating and most would rather have consistent damage/mobility/defensives. Is it fun to SOMETIMES land a big RD crit, sure. Other than when all the stars align which is very rarely ret feels horrible to play outside CD’s.

Dude you don’t need to make ret sounds like performing heart surgeries, what they did is just pop Seraphim, Wing , Tolls and Final Reck into RD, outside of that they just do sustain damage via Lawbringer.

He’s not wrong though. The setup to do that kind of damage is so telegraphed and so long because you need every multiplier possible to hit something that big. This is in comparison to someone who just presses a button and does 100k+ dmg to your entire team like evoker’s deep breath and many other abilities in the game. Ret’s ramp up is long AF and everything needs to be in place for you to actually do that kind of damage. People think you just walk in press wings and radiant decree and someone dies, that’s not how it works. You’d be lucky to get RSK damage out of an unbuffed radiant decree.

Nyoba is right though, while many rets don’t want this playstyle, where do they stand without it because it’s the only thing making them viable atm.

You have to realize that most people don’t play Ret and just want the damage gone. Less damage on Ret = more wins for them. They may not have any concerns about what it means for Paladin DPS, the only DPS spec we have.

It may not matter to them at all if that’s all we have. Other classes have suffered the same fate BTW. Something broken keeping them at least in the realm of competitiveness and those abilities were nurfed, and those players have a much harder time.

It absolutely can go from ok/bad to worse.

Ret is no exception.

Their only telegraph is Seraphim, you can actually make every spec seems complicated if you put every passives like it is mandatory to perform the oneshots.

Ret is a destroyer of bad players. Simple as that, and there are more bad players than good so thats why people are whinging. Before last week, ret was an instant kill target in arena every single game, but now they can clap back and people are upset they don’t get their free kill anymore.

They were capable of 200k globals before the patch. I think they could always “clap back”.

I agree. Before the recent patch, if a Ret caught me without cooldowns as a HPal then i was gone. They now have that little bit extra outside of wings which means people cant just train the ret pally all game as they can turn around and slap them back.
