I don't raid or Mythic +. Does WoW not want me?

You can get 460 gear, a full set, from conquest rewards eventually. You probably wont get good corruptions though and it takes like 20+ caps/weeks to get there.

How did you progress in Wrath if you don’t want to do dungeons?

Also 445 would be the wrath equivalent of 256 gear out of ICC10.

Be more powerful. Kill things faster. Basically what most everyone does with better gear.

But tbh, why are you so concerned with what I will do with better gear? Why not ask what I would do with more gold?

Valour points.

No.

It just means that if you don’t want to play, you don’t get the gear. If you’re not going to raid or M+, you don’t need more gear. Your character is, effectively done if your ilvl is at 445.

So…roll an alt and start over, I guess.

Or find a casual guild and try out M+ and raiding. If you like running heroic dungeons, M+ has a LOT to offer to you. If you don’t like pugging, that’s fine. You can restrict your M+ to guild-only. Lots of people do.

Factually incorrect. It is quite possible to get higher than 445 gear without raiding or mythic+.

  • You could PVP - high-rank PVP gives rewards above 445.
  • You could try running horrific visions. Visions gives rewards up to 470 ilevel each week.
  • The periodic 4-dungeon weekly quest does not require you to do Mythic+. You can join a group farming the same mythic 0 dungeon 4x in a row. It’s a complete faceroll and shouldn’t take more than an hour to clear all 4. That gives you a guaranteed 460.
  • Darkshore heroic warfront - comes up once every 3-4 weeks or so. Takes maybe 30-40 minutes and gives you a guaranteed 460 loot.

Also, it should be noted that even though titanforging was removed, the substitute for it, corruptionforging, is in the game. And in terms of improving your personal DPS output a 445 with a top corruptionforge is worth FAR more than any top titanforge under the old system.

So doing dungeons?

It was actually emblems of frost at this point in the Wrath cycle.

And if you weren’t raiding you got 2 per day from the daily heroic. With items costing between 60-90 frost emblems per piece. And only 2-3 on par with ICC25 gear (equivalent to 460 now) with the rest 256 level (ICC10) (equivalent to 445 now).

So if you never missed a single day you could buy 1 item every 1-1.5 months. And only a few would be better than what you already have.

There are ways to get up to at least heroic raid level gear, like visions, but for the most part you have to do hard content to get the best gear. I don’t do mythic raiding, might dabble in M+ up to 15s but I don’t expect to get mythic raid level gear if I don’t raid mythic.

The catch here is it is far too common for groups to require the gear to even get into the content which drops the gear. I agree that one should do the content to get the gear, but at the same time one should not be able to require gear above what drops in said content (note, I just said require, one can still take only the higher gear levels but the cap for min ilvl in LFG should be the level of gear that drops).

Anyone that says “do the content to get the gear” then also says “sorry, you don’t have the gear needed for this group even though it is above what drops” needs to be backhanded so hard they need to use a mirror to walk forward.

Gear advancement is usually linked to tackling greater future challenges.

So let’s suppose for the sake of argument, you got a Rep grind added for a high ilvl gear reward. What would you use it for? More rep grinds?

I don’t run any endgame content either. I’m content with having a lower cap on my ilevel than other players do, since I don’t need to advance any higher. I don’t have any need for mythic gear. Once I’ve hit the highest ilevel I can go, I do other things.

I kinda see where you’re coming from but at the same time I have to wonder, why do you want higher gear?.. you’d only need higher than 445 to do m+ and raids which ya don’t wanna do. You should be good to play your own endgame.
Just decide what that is for you, you should be plenty geared to do what you’re wanting.

There becomes a point when gear is not enough to account for skill. There is a diminished return. M+ and Raids effectively require certain amount of skill and game understanding.

Being able to kill wild boar in 1 hit is silly when you stop and think about it. Yet I imagine someone with an ilvl of 415 could pretty much still do it so fast that it’s like one shot.

This game isn’t Diablo 3 as much as it appears on the surface.

I would agree with everyone that you do not need higher gear level if you are not going to raid.

However, Blizzard stupidly introduced Visions to require higher gear to progress. At 445 ilvl, you will never 5 mask the visions unless you are DH but thats another story.

Pretty much everyone I see bragging that they clear visions easily with mask are 460+ ilvl, lower than 450 you don’t have a chance.

I think the OP is wanting a system that progressively increases gear through a currency that can be attained through grinding. Or they want a drop system in place like Vanilla had through world drops. BOEs.

If you don’t raid, run M+, PVP, or quest… WoW probably isn’t the game for you.

Like the badge system from Wrath? that would be nice to reward for time spent/a form of BLP.

I’m actually ok with this. The biggest reason is burnout. More specifically player burnout… There comes a point that raiding and running M+ becomes more stressful and no fun. Maybe you reached your own limit for how hard you want to press and just want a fallback system to allow you to fill out slot areas that are weaker and your bad luck couldn’t achieve when progressing?

So… raiding.

This is actually something I’m looking forward to.

At 442 equipped I did a 3 mask Stormwind where I only used my 2nd orb at the final lost area boss. Didn’t pot or flask.

I think I’ll be able to 4 mask this week pretty easily.

5 may be a challenge, but if I go harder on consumables I’m looking forward to the challenge.

I know monks are a great class for it, but I’m also working on an elemental shaman so we shall see how that goes.
