I don't get RBG rating at all

Yes, I understand that WoW ranking is based on the ELO rating system. But, how on God’s green earth does their algorithm determine when and how many rating points to assign? Look at these three games I played today:

  1. Victory (score 1500 to 925). My team’s TMV = 1336/Opponent = 1340. Rating: +0.
  2. Loss, (score 333 to 1500). My team’s TMV = 1413/Opponent = 1397. Rating: -8.
  3. Loss (score 580 to 1500). My teams’s TMV = 1665/Opponent = 1557. Rating: -4.

My questions are these:

  1. How is it possible that our team has a higher TMV than a team that waxes the floor with us during the match? They hit harder and die harder. They’re obviously better geared.
  2. Why is it when our team has a lower TMV and we win, no points are assigned, but when the opposite is true, there is a point loss?

it’s based off your CR as well. So you need to put your CR in there also to see what’s going on. But if your like 1600 CR and win that 1336 MMR vs 1340 MMR you will get 0 b/c your CR is 1600 an your playing at a 1340MMR

Than if you lose at 1400 MMR but your CR is 1600, it’s more punishing than it would be if you were 1400 CR playing at 1400 MMR.

What is YOUR rating. If you are 1800cr and group with a bunch of 0cr people and you win, you won’t get any points, but if you lose you will lose a ton.

This is why I have found it harder to find groups as you go up because the RBG leader is looking for a small variance of CR to maximize the teams CR gains.
