The hate comes from not the site itself, but from elitist knuckdraggers that don’t know how to use it and/or won’t shut up about it.
You mean tracking completed.key and asking you to do all keys so you have experience in all dungeons which on turn will make you a more rounded player?
You are right, it’s a conspiracy
At risk of beating a fossilised horse. I think where r’io both succeeds and offends is in stratifying the population based on past accomplishments which are used as a proxy for current ability. Generally speaking the +5 crowd and +15 crowd won’t end up spending much time together.
Arguments cited against:
- A barrier for entry
- A misrepresentation of my true ability
- Exclusion based on elitism
- Interference from a non-blizzard organisation
Arguments cited for:
- The most effective measure of an applicant’s experience and likely contribution to a run
- Dramatically improves likelihood of success (whether timing or finishing a key)
- The right of someone risking a resource (their key)
- Experience is as important as ability
- Anyone can climb the ladder one step at a time (and the majority of well-rated people did just this)
I would also add that I think having great disparities in player performance within a run can be a cause of frustration and arguments.
Well everyday there seems to be a new post against Raider IO. If people who like the add-on and use it don’t want to lose it. They have to voice their concerns against the people who are trying to get it removed. Raider IO is literally the only reason hugging keys is even possible
I’m so happy Raider io exists. In a time like this (where literally ANYONE can reach 120 and get heroic TF 445 gear because luck) it has to.
I’m not going to invite a 200 io player to a Waycrest Manor who’s never done it before. It’s so easy to improve your io score lol
No… I see this argument all the time and it’s simply not true. Yes you will have some people asking for crazy high IO for a low level key but those people are pretty rare.
In reality this is how getting into 10s go.
You have 8s and 9s down the board on time except for KR which is a 7 because screw that place. You keep applying for 10s but you get denied a lot. Eventually one group is sick of waiting and invite you to your first 10.
You time it, your score goes up a little but now you have a 10 on time completions. You keep applying for more 10s all of a sudden someone else takes you. Your io wasn’t that high but you timed a 9 on the dungeon they want and you have a 10 completion so you know beguiling. You timed that, now everytime you are applying for keys you get accepted faster and faster.
I run keys in the 16-17 range, I am working to get into 18s but I always get declined. Is that raider IOs fault? No, I still have a 15 on KR and siege I need to push but every 16 I upgrade into a 17 is only helping me get into that coveted 18
The system works, it’s a ladder. You can’t skip the rungs at the bottom and expect to catch the rungs above you. Slowly work your way up the ladder like everyone else has
Edit: I don’t think rungs is the word, it looks off but the point stands
Or you know what you could do? It’s crazy but hear me out.
This is an MMO and people need to stop treating it like a single player game! WHAT!!
You join a guild and suddenly, you’re able to run 8s, 9s and 10s like they’re cake. Eventually, you’re asked to join their heroic guild runs and mythic!
And that is just a method as well, I being in a guild will help you skip up the ladder but I am talking from a pug standpoint. If you only run keys with your guild then raider io doesn’t really effect you. I pug most of my keys but raid will my guild. There is only a handful of people on my guild I trust for anything above a 15
Oh for sure.
I don’t run anything above a 10 because there’s just not enough incentive. 8s, 9s and 10s are perfect for me
And that absolutely fine. When I installed raider io I’m season 1 of BFA I was like 700 and that was just from guild runs
I think I just broke 1800 this season
Yeah my io is nearing 800 from guild runs! :D. 20+ timed 5-9. So I’m usually taken regardless
Hmmm that explains a lot. I’ll just go drown my sorrows in some wine. Sorry to have bothered such a perfect person as yourself.
He’s being a tool, 15s in BFA are a good challenge. I push above 15s but not by much. Doing 15s on all dungeons is a good accomplishment. Just remember the MDI they are only running 18s…they do it in like 15 minutes but still only a 18 lol
Oh, I’m sorry I was imprecise in my prior post.
I have no problem with people talking about io on the Forums in any way. Chat away and argue the merits all you want. It is what the forums are for.
I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really (insert like 200 more lines)
want to kick people in their no no place that in game won’t shut up about how great they are because of their score on io and how only nubs don’t use it while they continue to fail baseline mechanics and cause wipes.
I’ve noticed, and maybe it’s just me, but the people with the best scores that are actually good rarely talk about it unless they are asked about it. Carries tend to yammer on about it. That is what causes the hate along with (+8 Freehold, checking io, be 2200+ and/or ilvl 430).
There are probably quite of few legion millionaires that buy 10s or 15s then brag how amazing they are. I’ve seen those joked, some dude made a group for a 15 shrine. I needed it for my keystone master so I decided to go… after looking he had very few runs and most of them were the 15 completions. He was dead every pull and was berating the tank for not holding aggro (on a skittish week as another rogue) lol
Those people are the worst.
But remember good players make mistakes. I like to think I am a decent player but no expert. For example I never knew distract could be used out if stealth till like 2 months ago. But I have personally made stupid mistakes that are very noobish. Backing into a pack, miss judging a avoidable attack, not realize a dangerous caster was still alive while not interrupting them.
Good players make mistakes
The higher the IO the better your chances are of timing your key. There are flaws with the system, including people buying runs and demanding high io just get carried. But overall it’s a great system, honestly pugging keys would be a nightmare without that add-on
Don’t waste expensive wine swine
You must also think breathing is a good challenge then…
I hate mythic + and the timers they divide friendships and have totally ruined the game for me I simply won’t do them anymore.
Thank God for tower of the damned next expansion
That’s cute, is this your forum trolling toon? I remember when I was scared to post on my main lol
Just had what was, according to IO, the best group I’ve ever put together fail miserably on Siege of Boralus and fall apart just after the first boss. We had a guy that couldn’t stop going nuts on the AoE even though it’s bursting week, had someone else keep pulling the first boss while we were still clearing trash, tank made a massive pull that he couldn’t hold aggro on, healer got annihilated by the second void emissary cause he didn’t get out of LoS, was just an absolute disaster all around.
I hate SoB enough as it is which is why I went more strict with my selections than I normally do, but IO didn’t seem to be much help with that key.
