As others have pointed out… this is disgustingly wrong.
Excuse me?
Lol gear is the ONLY thing relevant in this games PVP
Buddy, we’re allied with the sin’dorei. Brings the average looks of our entire faction down considerably.
I noticed something odd that’s kinda similar.
When I was on my Ally, I noticed that Alliance encourage each other to make groups to get the Alliance flooding into Battle for Nazjatar.
At first I was sorta livid, honestly. So that’s where they’re all coming from!
Then I realised that if everybody did this, everybody could get 6 pearls per hour. (Assuming you win and lose about as often.)
I tried it on my Horde character.
Several times.
Nobody came, even when the battle was heavily already winning and I specified so in the group listing.
Horde just wins Battle for Nazjatar usually do to having a higher presence in general.
Alliance has become obsessed with joining these mega zergs pretending it’s “PvP” when it’s just a slideshow to victory with zero effort needed to get your reward.
Personally I hate the mega guilds spamming shards because it just ruins playability in those shards, but people defend it as “we wouldn’t win otherwise” so it’s a self defeating cycle of people leaving shards they could win just to swarm.
Honestly at this point I don’t care. If it gets them (and me) more pearls, I’m for it.
Battle for Naz pops up on a server only once every three hours or so.
But you can do one an hour.
Those are wasted pearls.
So everyone should be grouping to push that once per hour.
That’s just how I see it.
lol it’s your region. Illidan gets paired with potato realms.
Let me give you an example.
Midnight-Potato says: They seem less willing to bring in undergeared alts in bgs.
That’s awfully low tbh. A fresh 120? Like just ding 120 in Heirlooms that weren’t scaled up low.
Fortunately gear will come for ya kinda quick. Grats on 120 btw. Now the grind really begins.
H
Because it’s fun and interesting.
If they did that then who’d be the cannon fodder? Jk. I guess if you do a group then you could get the ilvl you want.
@OP, how do you know they aren’t mercs? Do you check every toon?
[edit]
Also, some folks make a good point that random (smaller) BGs are around 50/50 win rates. So gear doesn’t really matter in small BGs apparently.
So what’s the ideal beginning ilevel to start running battlegrounds?
JMO, run at whatever ilvl you want. Ignore the fools who say otherwise.
They ought to be playing in premades or rated PvP if they want to whine about teammates’ gear.
And assuming they’re brave enough to post on a toon they actually play rated on, their ratings are usually low, or they play a cheese meta.
You’re right in a sense. Primary stats are normalized in instanced PvP but secondaries, azerite traits, essences, and trinkets still have a major impact
A 440 will absolutely steam roll a fresh 120 but say a 400-410 vs a 440 will have a chance but the odds will still favor the higher geared character just because of optimized secondaries and what not.
Yes, I could not one-shot a blood elf priest with 60k hp with an unbuffed 70k chaos bolt, but I did two-shot her. If I was fighting someone geared, I would need at least 5~6 of these, not taking into account damage reduction by versatility.
Gear does matter in PvP, otherwise you’d not see so many gladiators full decked in mythic+ or even mythic raid gear.
Chaos bolt, even with talent to gain 65% power, isn’t a one shot…
I think Greater Pyro does more dps on geared 120 at max hp, cause of % damage…on someone with max hp.
Edit: And is spamable no soul shards required, but if you can chain chaos bolts, you’ll decimate, but high end pvp that rarely…rarely happens… very easily to counter or just melee train a Warlock down…
Hey that’s me on my alts. Gearing through quests or dungeons just doesnt sit right with some people. Myself included. It seems to be a shared opinion of a lot of people on the arena forums that they would like to gear for pvp from pvp, and not gear from pve to pvp.
Why do you think these are alts?
Only a few number of players are pushing content on Alliance side, so mostly players are probably undergeared compared to Horde.
No Content = No Gear!
What would you all would suggest the minimum ilvl or hp pool for someone queuing random battlegrounds without being too much of a liability? Just curious for opinions here.
If you think gear isn’t relevant in pvp, then you must die a lot. And i mean a LOT.
