I disagree, I think mmorpg as a genre has reached to its limit, they can add more solo stuff, or even AI’s for lfg, but the core gameplay will never change.
The core gameplaying being combat, the same buttons we are pressing the last expansion are the same buttons we are pressing this expansion, combat is everything, it’s in pvp, dungeons, raids, and all quests have combat encounters, combat is the content.
This is why people get bored so quickly, you can try to dress it up, but at the end of the day, same buttons.
