I do not want cross faction play

BFA must have been your favorite expansion of all time.

It’s long past overdue to let factions play together. The faction pride stuff is so weak after years of working together, and especially after BfA’s conclusion it feels more forced to have the factions than not. Plus the story will always be in a poor, horrific state so long as factions exist. As it stands, we will never get decent writing until they just drop the moronic, pointless, asinine faction conflict.

Then again, Blizzard writers seem to like their moronic, pointless, asinine stories so we’re likely stuck with the stupid faction conflict. It’ll honestly be what continues to drag the game down.

If they do anything with the barrier that necessitates its existence, I’m all for it. Take a look at DAoC or even WAR to see how an MMO can actively make use of a strict faction system.

WoW does not, and never has done anything that necessitates its existence, and every expansion we are constantly told in the narrative that the split doesn’t matter in the face of mutual threats, which are omnipresent.

Better writing and a completely different design philosophy would have me right alongside you… but WoW simply is not, and never will be, a game that actually requires the team to split the playerbase to this degree for gameplay reasons.

I wish it was.

But it isn’t.

It’s time to stop pretending.

Joining forces makes sense. In the years of playing this game, I’ve helped Horde kill stuff and vice versa. No egos were “hurt” because of faction pride. It was “he/she helped me not die and have to ghost run back to die again cause I wasn’t at full health”.

To be able to run dungeons or raids without the faction restrictions?? Fine by me, means quicker queues in the LFD/LFR.

Another “lore” reference is in the movie. a few of the humans joined forces with some orcs to fight against the fel. Plus the respect given to Anduin after he fought Gul’dan by all the orcs. So yeah, Horde & Alliance can get along against a common enemy (which we’ve seen in each expansion)

I don’t want cross faction play. I want no faction pick whatever race you want. And I feel like post-shadowlands is the perfect place to begin.

the factions have not been important since Vanilla and are only serving as an excuse to have a fallback “faction war” story when they run out of things to give us, even though nothing ever changes or happens as a result of the faction war.

I want to play with whoever makes getting groups go quicker. Could not care less about faction, it doesn’t even mean anything anymore. I play horde and ally and it just doesn’t matter. Faster groups, better content, who gives a crap about the RP story that doesn’t even make sense anymore.

And if you do, good for you. You can choose to not play with the opposite side for your RP reasons. Which I’d wager almost nobody actually would.

It was spoken of at Blizzcon as a possibility.

Personally, I believe people are getting upset for no reason. My theory if it happens is that it will be for instanced content only (dungeons and raids, we already have Merc mode for PvP) and maybe guilds. They won’t touch the entire world. Cities and questing would still remain separate.

I believe this partially because they still wish to keep the factions and partially because it would be the easiest way to do it. And we all know that Blizzard does not do complicated.

Well, Mechagnomes are the freakiest race, even though everyone forgets about them. I guess you support cross faction play!

Then don’t. I want to play with trolls as a night elf and talk more about this voodoo.

/Looks at the Blood elves and back at you.
:face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Oh trust me, humans just only want to play with other humans because “No true aliance”, amirite?

I’m looking at you human male paladins :tm:.

Has it? even in the PvP side of things, it’s sometimes free for all, like in Legion and some areas around the world. Even in story that gets pushed aside or not focused heavily upon, like MoP and BFA.

Heck, many many many times, the horde and alliance work together. Heck, the story right now is the Alliance and Horde are in some sort of peace treaty agreement, so why not add cross faction stuff? :man_shrugging:

Not at all. A lot of us are stuck playing a faction we don’t really like just so that we can play with friends. It sucks big time, and it would be really nice if we could simultaneously play the race/class we enjoy AND play with friends.

I don’t really either, but it’s likely gonna happen. I just hope when it does, it’s an option.

Hey Belves can get freaky sometimes.

I always find it strange when Blood Elf players are adamantly against playing with the Alliance when the orchestration of their placement in the Horde was so flimsy.

You posted on your elf btw.

Still bitter about Garathos.

No, it has to do with major changes always messing up the game. Because they can’t think of all the ways it could mess up the game. Like the ilvl or level squishes or Chromie time. Then it could take months to years before they fix it.

Dude was just as discriminatory against Dwarves, but you never hear a whiff of that. Almost like a single human’s racism was pretty inconsequential in the grand scheme of things.

That was a joke…

If it’s just being able to group for group content like Raids and Dungeons, ect… I’m fine with it. Might would use it. That would be about as Optional as you can get. You can either chose to do or not do.

I can’t see them trying to cross faction everything. It’s going to have it’s limitations.

I feel weird when the fourth war is over, and a member of my own covenant is fighting a big whatever and I can’t help them because we’re not the same faction.
I mean… C’mon.
