I like it. In fact I would even go so far as to say we should have a recent enemies tab for Warmode. I already use the Spy addon for that, but built in would be good.
I have not noticed that, but i have not done any world content in a while and i don’t pug .
I agree, I think the allies thing came from Diablo, never used it myself, not sure why they brought it over here, unless it’s popular and I just don’t know. Possible.
I agree with this too.
I didn’t even notice this at all. How much of a hermit am I? Rofl
That being said, I appreciate what they’re trying to do, but it seems it was just implemented poorly.
Overwatch has a “Recently Played With” tab in case you forgot someone’s name, and I guess want to either add them as bnet friends or put them on ignore. Either/o, it’s a helpful feature.
I wouldn’t mind that in WoW. Like a “Recently Grouped With” list we could check. But making nameplates random colors and such seems too intrusive and annoying.
That’d be nice. I could put the Brewmaster on ignore who blamed me for the wipe in Maw of Souls, when he’s the one who pulled the entire top deck of the boat just before Helya. But he got butt hurt when I politely suggested a strategy.
Well, at least the playerbase is consistent. You get blamed for things you didn’t say/do on the forums and in game.
This whole feature should never have been added to the game, but since they did add it, it should have been disabled by default. First rule of new features is: They should ALWAYS be opt in, unless it’s security related.
I laughed so hard at this… you’re not wrong.
I’d be fine with it if it was just people who I was recently grouped with. It just being any random person I shared a tag with is dumb.
Yeah I like it for people I group with (which already for the most part are my friends.) . Not really for much else, tho i do get the intent of it.
I don’t see ‘everyone’ getting added to my recent allies list. On my Remix character, the only ones in that list are those I’ve raided with. No open world, not even dungeons.
My list populated from open world, when people tagged a mob or stole my bronze after flying through a demon.
This was before I started running dungeons. And those people aren’t even on my list.
I don’t understand it.
given how most people play, it’s fairly accurate that the person showing up as recent ally is actually someone who’s more likly recently engaged in toxic behavior towards you. We just need to adjust the color and name of the feature and it’s a great tool for tracking people to avoid.
for what it’s worth, I’m seconding your observations as well- definitely a ton of people on my recent ally status in remix where I have all social options turned off and am not queuing, grouping, or engaging with anyone.
It highlighted someone I did world pvp with. I don’t know them though. I wish it had a friends list only setting. Unless I missed something.
It’s like those videos I see of pickpockets getting marked with paint so they’re easier to pick out of a crowd.
Please at least let me decide how this feature shows up. I hate that it appears in my chatbox. It distracts from my roleplay, and interferes with my chat copy-paste addon. I don’t like that it gives “recent allies” the same color as my friends either.
It tries to track how you were ‘recent allies’ too in the recent allies tab of the social pane, but it defaults to “whispered”, when I have not whispered most of these people.
edit: it shows up for guildies too, as though I’m not already allies with these people lol
Oh, well boo hoo.
Oh is that all it is?
I thought it was someone I grouped up with in a dungeon, raid, arena or battleground …
Having tagged mobs be counted as a “Recent Allies” – feels much worse lol
It can be people you’ve grouped with for those things. But it’s also just randos out in the world.
I have this long list now of people that are irrelevant to me. I even had a few of them whisper me out on the Lemix island and the conversation was pretty much the same:
Them: “Why are you a different color and have an icon?”
Me: “It’s the new recent allies list.”
Them: “They wasted time on this?”
Yeah, randos out in the world seems a tad excessive.
I don’t think LFR should count by a long shot either lol
As for the rest, I don’t really mind so much, but yeah …
