Paladin tank should own with caster groups. Warriors can’t really hold threat on more than 4-5 mobs. Paladins can.
All of your problems can be solved by tanking and making your own group. The people who don’t like Paladins won’t join your group. But there are plenty of people who aren’t idiots who will join.
I play both. Still it’s a fact that you represent what’s all wrong with classic crowd.

This is not my experience at all. I think the issue is you are trying to specialize your spec to one role and getting frustrated when that role is not needed in LFG.
Pre-40 try specing down to seal of command in ret then consecration and healing light in holy. Great build to fulfill any role in any group.
Post-40, once you get dual spec, you can have a deep holy and deep ret spec on demand.
Finally, carry a plate set and a different int/spirit/+healing set so you can swap. You need 0 talents in holy to spam flash of light and effectively heal a dungeon.

The holy paladin in my guild that I’ve run dungeons with heals great and is getting into dungeons just fine. Prot tanking is tough, you gotta really work at it. I haven’t tanked a warrior before but I like bear tanking a lot more than I like tanking on a paladin. Far more tanky and do better threat.
But yeah, a raid might bring 1 ret paladin but for the most part you’re healing end game. And yes there are a lot of priests this time because of dual spec. Lots of folks wanna heal raids and pvp as shadow. I ran SM the other night with our holy paladin healing and the priest was doing dps. Wasn’t really doing that great of dps but mind control is very effective CC in SM and was quite helpful. We were still doing like 35k/xp an hour.
My advice is to maybe find a leveling guild with lots of folks around your level. If you can form some relationships with folks, they’ll be more likely to wanna group with you and do dungeons. If you wanna be a lone ranger, paladin probably wasn’t the best choice.

Inb4 you say “didn’t ask” as you’ve done on every toon you keep swapping between.
The answer is to just stay Ret while levelling and heal or DPS in dungeons.
You don’t need to respec for healing at these levels. Just be sure you have a set of intellect gear and you’ll be fine.
At 60, you can dual spec healing for raids, Ret for PvP and do just fine.
Sadly, yes… Pally tanking is a bit of a meme due to lack of a taunt.
