Warrior? Is that you? Did you switch characters thinking I wasn’t going to recognize you? Lol how cute. I’m flattered you have such hate wood for me just because in that thread you’re talking about I said Paladins are better at solo PvP than Warriors are. And despite whatever narrative you’re going to try to push here, I made that post asking what the phase 0-1 experience for Paladin was like, and even admitted that I know for PvE I’ll most likely have to go Holy and I’m okay with that. People like you came in and immediately started crapping on Paladin and my choice for even considering playing one. If anyone is the clown here it’s you.
I completely understand that at endgame I’m gonna need to heal in PvE. I get that. I accepted that. Where this narrative came from that I’m against it and am not okay with it is a fiction you are all making up to suit whatever argument you want to hold against me.
Also, I’m not even so much complaining that I don’t enjoy playing Paladin. That’s another assumption you are all making. What I’m complaining about is the outright toxicity towards Paladin players. And I know saying this is going to cause other people to be contrarian just because I’ve been holding the unpopular statement where they never read anything but guild chat or don’t even have chat channels enabled because they just sit in Discord all day and then have the nerve to come here and claim that they’ve never been harassed for being a Paladin. Yeah, you’ve never gotten it because you isolate yourself in a bubble.
I know for a fact none of you are going to believe me because it’s just SO much cooler to dogpile, but the entire “inciting incident” you could call it in-game that spurred me on to write this whole OP in the first place was sitting in SM like 20 minutes prior trying to find a group and hitting the back-to-back lottery of crapheads where I whispered 2 people who were looking for a healer for SM Arm/Lib respectively that I was a H. Pally lfg and got the question from one “You rolling on gear? LOL” and another saying “Sry not losin stuff to pal”.
Alliance on a PVE server must be rough. PVE servers consist of try-hards, most of the time. Try a PVP server where they don’t treat a regular dungeon like it’s Naxx.
and instead of constantly respecing you could have literally just bought a ret set off the AH and just leveled via quests for all the gold youve wasted.
It makes groups run so much smoother. Less aggro issues, happier tanks, and happier healers. I’ll take a ret if they are solid. BoP and off heals are quite useful as well.
OP does not want to improve; he wants the game to cater to him specifically and the way he wants to play his character rather than learning to master the class as it is.
I saw this when he asks for video proof; when he could just get on youtube and look up Paladin Vanilla dungeon tanking to see how its done. There are no kidding like 6 different builds and methodologies to it that I have seen work from the outside looking in, and even my own personal method that works incredibly well for leveling dungeons. I personally try and get all mage DPS and a Disc priest if I can, but really any healer works just fine long as they’re willing to play smart. I love mage DPS because you pull big and they DPS big then everyone drinks back to full and its incredibly efficient because the mage can just zug their little hearts out.
I’m currently trying something new (to me) as a paladin—I’m leveling as Ret and tanking dungeons along the way. Only 29 right now, so just about to start on SM. So far, it has gone really well. I’ve been through stocks runs with AoE groups, and generally been fine. The threat from SoC is really high, so as Ret I’m able to lean a lot on the high burst damage to get threat. I’ve done the consecrate path before, and it works too, but can get sketchy if you lose aggro or if dps is too quick triggered. As holy / Prot you feel like you are pretty useless once you lose threat. As a ret I can dish out damage and usually get threat back. I’m expecting this experience to get worse as I level but also want to see how far I can take it. Of course in my 20s, having Verigans Fist is probably explaining a lot about why this is going smoothly :-/
I rolled a tank with my wife that’s a healing priest. When I make a group, I go out of my way to bring non-meta specs. Yeah, I’ll still try to bring a mage, but I have no qualms with bringing a ret paladin or a sub rogue. We finish runs quickly and efficiently. There are good people out there. Don’t give up just because you had a bad night.
