With the final additions to void elf customization, I finally have everything I wanted in character customization options (at least the reasonable ones that don’t require huge systems overhauls). There are myriad things I’d like to see fixed in the rest of the game, and I still believe transmog needs a giant overhaul with far fewer restrictions than we have now. But as far as base character customization options, this is no long a topic I have any complaints with.
I am satisfied
While I do tend to bounce around and race change more than the average person, my two favorite and most played races in the game, since BC, have always been Blood Elves and Draenei. Void Elves gave me a great belf-ish option as an alliance player, and have since grown on me a lot (my other main, my lock, will always be void elf. Can’t picture her as anything else), and this toon I’m posting on here is usually a Draenei (had to roll nelf for a bit since nelves have largely been getting the proverbial shaft in the lore and need some positive attention. It was my little way to show my support for my nelf brethren).
The other things I always low-key wanted were things like choices in dances and more fleshed out emote systems. But as I mentioned, I imagine that’s more work than just some art changes, and aren’t a big deal.
Now, I only speak for myself, obviously. And just because I’m one satisfied player doesn’t mean there aren’t others who should be listened to and taken seriously. There are lots of great ideas in the customization department, and more options and player agency is always a good thing. By all mean, keep adding more customization options to the game. The more, the merrier.
But with the lightforged additions, and void elf additions, I have everything I asked for in that department. You can officially take me off the list!
That’s awesome! I am personally hoping for even more customizations in the future but more so for our classes. I wish they will utilize the glyphs once again or simply expand customization options when we pick a class we could have unique options available. Maybe one day. Priests could use white light instead of yellow, death knights could have green and red eyes, maybe extra scar or warpaint options for warriors… stuff like that!! Just to further our ability to express the character how we see it!
So glad to hear they hit the nail on the head for you tho. Those lightforged options are really really cool, I just made one because excited.
Yes! All great ideas, I’d also love to see them take advantage of the glyph system for this very thing.
I got on the PTR when the first LF changes went up, got to the long braided ponytail, and was instantly sold (there’s a great pixie 'do in there too). Messed around with the new skin and hair colors, jewelry options and tail length, and I was absolutely thrilled. Better than I could’ve hoped.
And earlier today, I saw the black/white/brown hair colors for velf, and sat there staring for a minute until I realized ‘holy clap, that was the last of my wishlist!’
Oh man, I think I will check and see if there are some videos on the new customization. I only took a peek at the wowhead post when it was first shown and it looked good. I didn’t even know there were more options being added for the void elves. It was that broken horn option I saw that really got me interested in the lightforged. It’s silly how something so small can inspire somebody a lot.
It’s a great and I hope it makes Blizz realize how much we care about customization. They shouldn’t feel like their job is done because they added some options at one point in time.
I like my void elf mage on the ptr enough that I’m leveling a human instead of race changing, I would still like more than one quasi satisfactory hair style as well I mean humans have some of the blood elf styles it’s just sour not to give them to void elves too. I’m talking Simple, it’s not even good on humans but it’s my favorite on a blood elf. Would be more than fine if void elves had that one too.
