So, things have been weird for me, I have been bored of everything in my life except a few things such as watching tv shows or playing games, particularly WoW, but now… Even those are boring and I just don’t know what to do. I can bring myself to do more than my dailies in WoW, can’t bring myself to enjoy any movie or tv shows and not a single game gets my attention but at the same time I don’t want to go to parties and these sorts of stuff and I bored of being bored, it’s so damn annoying not finding anything interesting, I need some recommendations or something, I don’t know.
I had the same feelings not too long ago, and turned to long-distance running as a solution. It’s great for your cardiovascular health and personally I think it’s fun; however, I am a masochist and revel in self afflicted agony.
Go outside and get a life😂
There are people outside, and people annoying me.
Sometimes sitting still and not doing anything helps bring you back.
See how long you can sit still while you watch your breath.
You can make a game out of it.
Yeah, I would prefer avoid exercises if possible, my legs hurt like hell even for a 20 minutes walk and I am not even that fat.
Boredom is contagious. Your boredom is boring to me. Thanks. Now I’ve got it.
Dive into Marvel comics. There’s a multiverse of interesting story lines.
Get a hobby. Learn a musical instrument, collect rocks, learn to kayak or mountain bike or play frisbee golf. Join a LARP or role-playing game group. Whittle. Set a goal for yourself like reading all of something by a certain date. Become an expert at something cool, like a certain kind of music or a certain part of history.
I mean, I hate to sound like a mom, but there are a million things to do and being bored is kind of a choice. You have to pick some things and DO them.
I love video games and TV, but if that’s all you have then what do you expect.
I’m no expert, but you sound depressed.
Simply put, you’re in an early stage of depression. If you’re sitting in all day, that could be the issue. No, I am not saying you need social interaction (Though it’s proven to help). I’m saying you need exercise. The body feels better and stress is released upon doing it, causing endorphins to be released which in turn makes you feel better.
Your legs hurt on a 20 minute walk? My point stands even more firm.
Well… yes and no.
Sometimes yes, but when you’re not getting anything out of what you do (reward center, woop woop!) then you’re not going to have the normal motivation to do it.
OP sounds demotivated.
Take up drinking coffee if you don’t already.
Go get yourself a couple chocolate bars.
Boost that mood and you’ll be more interested in everything.
Well, I wouldn’t consider early stage truth be told, I have been like this for quite a while, but only recently my favorite stuff in the world became like that…
Pokémon go and cooking for me. Learning to cook is therapeutic in a way. I’m still pretty bad at it but that’s okay haha
Pokémon go has led me to explore some new parks.
I’ll throw Funko PoP hunting in too just because I find it to be fun. Staying up to date and following when the next pop comes out and where it’s exclusive too and trying to get the chase version of ones is fun. It can be profitable too if you land the right ones.
Do you drink coffee?
Soda?
What’s your diet like these days if you don’t mind me asking?
EDIT: Don’t need to know actually, I’ll just say this…
-
Cut out soda as much as possible and replace it with coffee. This is like… you basically are cheating your reward center here and it’s pretty amazing. (Coffee is a very powerful and incredibly [relatively] sustainable mood booster).
-
Cut out fast food as much as possible
-
Sugar in general is pretty bad and will do a number on your mood if you’re not careful with it (e.g. chain soda drinking)
Some thoughts to consider.
Additionally, try giving gardening a try.
It’s one of the best hobbies and super motivating and rewarding unto itself.
Also, some of us try to be friendly here, so like… you can always browse the forums when you’re bored, at least it gets you interacting a bit
I know that game.
I drink both coffee and soda, I am always sleepy so it’s like 3-4 coffees a day, soda is just when eating stuff.
But, I don’t know, I don’t feel like doing anything, that’s just it, I can’t bring myself to do anything because I know that I won’t have fun with the things I do.
Do you spend a lot of time in your head, would you say?
Another way to put it…
… you just described the endpoint of a variable situation with certainty.
Like, you teleported to the end of something in your mind before you even initialized it or engaged it with your body first.
That’s not wrong, that’s thinking ahead but sometimes thinking ahead too much, spending too much using just your mind to work things out can leave you sort of distant from yourself, so to speak.
Do you feel like you’re “in your head” a lot?
Happens to me every few months OP, usually results in me replaying some old games for awhile.
I would say so, but I also hate myself for thinking too much about stuff.
Maybe its time you talk to someone, a professional counselor?
Depression shows itself in many ways and effects everyone differently. Your boredom with everything might be a sign of depression.
