I’m sad, depressed and scared

I’m not an ophtalmo i got no idea if it would help him but its worth looking into. Or at least like others said to consult one asap.

I just want to say thank you all for helping me in my time of need, believe it or not, WoW was my first mmo so I just wanted to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It means so much that random strangers would help me  :3

hi
cataracts need to grow to a certain size before they will suck them out

go to a DR asap

what a weird thread.

surely the first course of action would be a basic eye test, yet random people are recommending surgery?

there’s a lot of things which can cause vision issues.
jumping straight to the self-diagnosis of cataracts seems a tad extreme.

my sight has deteriorated rapidly with age, plus i’ve got glaucoma.
both conditions are managed just fine with glasses and eye-drops.

don’t overlook the buttons on your monitor.

Have your mom stand behind you and give directions.

Only 30 years old and going blind? Yikes

Do you have a family history of eye problems? Rare eye disease? Etc?

Some more details would be nice, since 30 is awfully young to be having eye issues

I’ve been a gamer since like age 6 and done plenty of tunnel-visioning/staring at a screen over the years - still have great eyesight

To be fair I do have fairly noticeable “dark eye circles”, but it’s hard to tell how much of that is from gaming and how much is due to my insomnia/crappy sleep habits lol

But you can see perfectly fine outside of the game?

Found your answer. But we both know you aren’t actually suffering any ailments.

Cataract surgery was a cakewalk compared to lasik! Truly, there was very little pain, fast healing, and the results… They will put in a new lens that is calibrated for your eyesight, so you come out seeing 20/20 again. Colors are gorgeous! The world looks brand new again.

I had cataract surgery in my early 50s, not 30s, but the technology is so, so good now. If that’s what you need, please don’t be afraid. It’s such a huge quality of life change that you cannot anticipate before it happens.

You are very young to have cataracts in both eyes. You might have something else going on. Please see a doctor. You could have something as simple as a vitamin deficiency. You could have something more or less serious too. My point is please see a doctor. Especially if you are having the same sight in both eyes.

Is that something you were born with? Or got it recently?

I wish you all the best and that you find a good doctor with experience.

Nobody of us is qualified to give you any guidance on that matter, go to one doctor and then another, always get two opinions before a potential surgery or treatment.

Good Luck!

Born with it unfortunately

I get how you feel, I feel like that myself most of the time.

Look at the upsides:

There’s cataract surgeries and a lot of people do them. My step-dad did it, worked out fantastic, he sees everything now, and he’s 70.

You’re only 30.

It’s a little too early to call it quits, just go see a doctor, no biggie.
