I’m officially done with the WoW subreddit

Agreed. I laugh when people think you hopped on a BfA Hate Bandwagon.

I’m sound enough in my own mind to be able to clearly identify all the things that have me struggling to keep my sub going and my personal “time played” metric dropping every week this expac is out.

  • Class design is terrible (speaking as someone who has mained a mage since I started playing).
  • Azerite gear and the HoA are absolutely boring and un-inspiring
  • Warfronts and Invasions are easily surpassed in their rewards and are just a catch-up mechanic. Warfronts are also really boring.
  • Island Expeditions are the same mindless slog with no reward other than toys and cosmetics. Haven’t done one in months.
  • The story is awful … especially the pacing of the story. Does anyone actually know WHY we’re fighting? In an expansion where they’re relying on the tired Faction conflict to drive the tale, WHY are we at each others throats right after an expansion where we were merrily side-by-side in our class halls fighting the common foe? Because of Azerite? Has there been anything in the storyline that speaks to why Azerite is so important? Nothing epic has been done with Azerite other than it empowering our gear with laclustre passive traits that aren’t much stronger than a raid trinket. Am I missing something?
  • Allied Races were a neat concept when announced but with so few of ones currently playable actually of interest to the players, they won’t bring people back to the game unless the Devs actually go for some races players have actually ASKED for.
  • Gameplay feels mind numbingly slow and awkward with the GCD. Classes feel overly simplistic in an attempt to sensationalize Azerite gear and Warmode abilities. Epic fail.
  • Flying, the lack thereof at this point, and the entire process of getting grounded for months because a new expac launched. I’m over it. Really.
  • Even the removal of class sets for generic sets by armor type is taking away from the game … and the Uldir and BoD armor sets are awful. Absolutely awful.

My sincere wish for this game is that Ion leaves, is fired, or moves on to something else. His direction has brought 2 of the worst expansions this game has ever had. He is in over his head in his current role and the game is suffering for it.

you’re not alone. Myself, and everyone in my circle of friends thinks class design has been a disaster. This minimalist approach their using, might make the math side of things easier for them, but it’s destroying the fun.

idk who really cares about this, if blizz really wanted to increase your /played, they would just hire a comedian to sit in org/sw general chat. the vast majority of changes allow you to stay caught up with minimal time played. really, stop and have a good hard think about this, if blizz wanted you glued to the game like a zombie to boost your /played, they wouldn’t make it so you only have 3 hours of content to do per week.

this depends on spec and the content you run.

wrong, i’ve found theorycrafting with the azerite to be very fun, the traits may not be the best for every class, but the design is solid, and a very good replacement to tier sets. stacking traits is like getting a 2 or 4 set bonus, but you can do this with several traits. 3x 3x, or 3x 2x 1x or 3x 1x 1x 1x, etc. never mind the fun with the inner rings.

again, wow writing, this is a video game, the story is the afterthought, the gameplay comes first. if you want a good story go read a book.

i see allied races all over the place. and you are posting that from a void elf.

this will depend on the spec and class, the GCD change had almost no impact on my spec, and i’ve been playing it long enough to realize there is a surface level that is easy to learn and seems mechanically simple and maybe even boring to many, and then there is a depth to learn and master that seperates good players from bad ones. often i find when someone makes the comment of X class is simple and boring it means they only grasp the surface level of that class.

warmode is just bg scaling and pvp talents in the world. the pvp talents were a system that everyone likes because it means pve and pvp are no longer linked in balance, classes are no longer gutted in PVE to make them balanced in PVP.

meh, i seriously just /facepalm at the people who die on this hill.

i sort of agree with this, on one hand we are getting a bunch of new sets, you can’t deny that, but i do think classes still need their own sets.

there is a management problem with the dev team, between not wrangling their egos and mismanagement of dev resources(ignoring game breaking bugs to fix minor travel exploits used by almost nobody) its quite obvious they don’t have good leadership. Ion is a good theorycrafter and i don’t think he should be fired, but they do need someone to go in a straighten up their shop.

The one thing you can always count on, in any subreddit, people will find anything and everything to complain about.

Yes is it pretty bad IMO. Compared to past expansion classes need help. S.O.S.

Irony my good friend. It has been good meeting you.

Reddit: LMAO WoW forums are so useless complaining all the time.

WoW General Discussions: LMAO look at those people complain about things.

Anywhere humans congregate there is complaining. Humans are jerks.

here’s how i see it, you know when you were a kid and there was once that kid that did something to you and you just hated them for like ever no matter what they done, they could just say hey how are you doing today and you’re like how dare you say hey to me. that’s how i see it when it comes to wow players and blizz no matter how hard they try it will never be good again for some that’s why they have just givin up and moved on to how they want the game to be and notwhat we want anymore.

I can’t wait to see OP post a totally original post in reddit claiming GD is a horrible place

Lol, if not the OP I am sure someone out there has.

You know the best part? There is actually a thread on GD complaining about the free game time -_-

Yep, I mentioned that to the OP in my first reply to this thread. Basically “Uh, people are complaining about it here too.”

90% of the posts on the WoW subreddit are people fishing for upvotes by posting screenshots or something. Really a bizarre place with a weird subculture.

Hey here’s my totally original Horde tattoo.

Hey here’s my totally original Alliance tattoo.

Hey here’s that nice screenshot in the Barrens.

Hey “I’m sick of all the negative posts. I’m quitting :((”

Hmm cool didn’t realize Blizz was giving away three free days… For what exactly?

I would prefer negative/critical posts to fishing for upvotes. There is no real discussion over there. Just a constant circle jerk.

It’s just a few hours teaser for people who are unsubbed or new.

I have had the opposite experience with the WoW subreddit. Everybody there that I see downvotes anybody who says negative things about the game. Perhaps it all depends on the thread that is being discussed.

There are lots of really talented artists on there that post their pictures, but actual game discussions aren’t very in depth.
