I’d love to build a house in the game

It can be like Garrisons in WOD but with more customisation. If you want a tower, castle, house or cottage you can build either or, and every day (or week) there are cool daily quests to do that provide benefits and aid the construction of your building.

Since there’d be people against this feature, we can lock it strictly so only the individual player sees their house, that way we won’t see other peoples houses popping up all over the world. However if a player invites you to their house then you can see it.

To start, I’d probably make a cottage somewhere in the Arathi Highlands.

Where would you make one?

I actually like this idea. I know a lot of people are against it but I don’t really understand why. I also think guild halls would be neat.

Guild halls could easily be an instanced meeting spot
I could see that

I would probably make my house in Pandaria. Though I’m not great at making houses so I’ll probably live in an empty field with a cardboard box in the middle.

I would make a nice little cottage near my farm in the Valley of Four Winds.

I don’t mind building stuff in games, infact, i’m kinda a sucker for it.

I have two words for you, “lava moat”!

What if they made custom options to alter the already existing garrison

That way it wouldn’t be taking as much dev time

Would you be willing to pay for it?

Has Blizzard ever commented on player-housing? I’m curious if there is an official stance on the concept.

Tons are still hoping for this, but people keep saying no because garrisons was the one and only attempt.

So people can afk in their houses and SW/org be dead bare and empty like in WOD?

Maybe the Badlands. I like desert areas a lot and it’s still close to Ironforge.

Because I don’t have any personal investment in it and I don’t see the point. Blizzard would never let it be built in the actual world because it would either require a ton of sharding to keep it out of quest areas or a complete and total revamp of every zone every time they wanted to open up a new plot.

The zones are small enough as it is, and getting smaller every expansion, where wandering through and getting sharded into someone’s plot every five feet while enemies disappear around you would be highly disruptive to the oh-so-prized immersion, and no one would actually stick around to see some hoarder’s collection of knicknacks because they have no personal investment.

Even that hoarder’s friends don’t really care, but would have to be polite about it, kind of like being invited over to watch some relative’s slideshow sober.

So if it’s disruptive in the world, it would be instanced, which would upset half the people wanting it because it wasn’t actual real estate, and the world would empty out again as everyone hid back in their personal space, which was why garrisons were panned.

To be fair, does it really matter which rest area one AFKs?

Would love this idea, but, honestly, i think its a never going to happen thing.

Blizzard…take note! Im sure instanced housing would be ideal.

Better yet, I could just put it under lava, that way no one can get to it, especially me.

Main cities being populated makes the game look good for new players entering, unlike other mmos who abandon this and when you enter areas its bare and dead.

Fair enough.

Wasn’t it made in the expansion that was rushed and had to cut a lot of stuff to meet the deadline?

I’m sure, given more time, they would’ve fully fleshed that system and player housing, out.
