Thats not really the case. Yeah, I could get an ok trinket from some other content but usually one trinket is head and shoulders above another. Ive gone entire raid tiers never seeing the best trinket i could get despite killing the boss every single week.
I just recently got an unguent caress right at the end of an xpac.
Actually, saw this problem in my guild, before it split, during the BoD tier. The 4 boss loa encounter dropped a dps trinket, and it seemed like half our dps wanted it. The more it dropped for other people or pugs, the more frustrated some of our dps got.
This is why the gear curve for raiders impacts so much faster than m+ groups even with the drop count difference, 20 people to trade with.
Ouch. 10k weeks on some stuff. Cries in bad luck
Well that is just the guaranteed chance. Terrible right, but that is how badluck protection works on games that don’t have lock outs. With lock outs I imagine the token would be something more.
What is that awesome WQ 445 trinket that cannot be replaced till u get that specific upgrade? Just curious, serious question.
There’s a pretty clear cut system to vision drops. 445 without mask & an upgrade by 5 with each mask you put on. Will downgrade by 5 every time you repeat a vision on the same level. Also, there’s a pretty specific loot table for visions. No rings/trinkets/weapons on that table.
I hate constantly referencing Classic sometimes, but if you want to experience true pain and suffering try doing 40 man content with 2-3 drops per boss with big loot tables and rare items. We saw 2 or 3 DFTs within the first 2 months of BWL and never seen one again. Drake Talon Pauldrons have never dropped for any of us, and only one pair of boots from Chromagus have dropped (that I won). Ashkandi, and some other decent fury type weapons are also very rare for us.
I actually hung my hat up for Classic raiding last week, loot wasn’t the driving factor, but it didn’t help to feel so unrewarded week after week. A lot of our warriors just hit max DKP bid any time an item was even remotely desired because we were so unlucky that they didn’t care how much they were spending.
This has been a problem since vanilla. There are people who I played with back then who ran certain dungeons many tens of times, perhaps more, and never saw the gear they were after.
The easiest fix would be to add a bunch of craftable alternatives to any given drop that are at least second or third best so when RNG decides to be obstinate you’ve got some level of recourse.
I think an alternative solution would just be “bad luck protection” where the game lowers the chance at repeated slot drops and thus increases the drop chance for alternative slot drops.
Early in BFA I think I got damned bracers out of my weekly disappointment box about 5 or 6 times in a row. Then, just a while ago when I came back the same exact thing happened with belts.
At least Shadowlands is giving us a decent system where we can earn more options to choose from (although I’ll be hysterical if the boxes just give different stat combinations of the same slot).
If only JP/VP was still a thing but nah, gotta play the rng game.
This thing of not getting trinkets, has been always in wow. Since vanilla the loot that loot was rng.
The valor points, and justoce points should not work, because those merchant doesn’t have tje bosses loot table for selling, so i wont be of help having those back.
Its horrible, but its the nature of the beast, i would ne glad they could add a way to target the boss drop that you want, but that is asking a little bit to much on an mmorpg
