Let’s say I enter the Shadowlands and I see the squad (thrall, Baine, Jaina, Anduin) getting locked up there. If I were to pull out my hearthstone and returned back to Azeroth, are they still stuck there?

Looks like Shadowlands just ended early for me.
One could probably assume that whatever force that keeps Jaina from teleporting far probably scrambles Hearthstones too. You’d go…somewhere, but you probably wouldn’t like the outcome much.
You would be out of the Maw…but ended up in the land of dust bunnies. They are everywhere, and you have no place to hide from the Ultra Dust Bunny.
