Hurricane Michael Survivors

To all Hurricane michael Survivors… who like me were in a devastated area. Forget about asking Blizz for the times we were unable to access the internet for 3 months. Our entire infrastructure was wiped out… It took well over 6000 utility personnel to even have power back. Not counting it took cable companies almost 3 months to restore their own line of service. I let my sub expire due to the lack of compassion shown for disaster areas.

All Hurricane Michael Survivors respond.

This seems oddly specific.

Yes it is. I submitted a ticket to get a response if they would help for paid subs during our outage. the area was devasted by an almost cat 5 hurricane. it leveled everything. thousands lost houses. And we had no infrastructure to speak of. The hurricane hit Oct 14, 2018… power restored Oct 24, 2018… shortly after water and sewer. Cable for internet restored Dec 20, 2018… and landline for phone still not connected

So… you were hit by a hurricane… and you were paying for an auto-recurring sub… More importantly I guess I need to ask: why did you not evacuate?

Paid for in advance. But who can predict when your area is devasted by a natural disaster… Just shows that they got their money and they don’t care.

Meteorologists, actually. They tell you hurricanes are coming when they’re hundreds of miles out at sea.
Why did you not evacuate?

That is terrible, I am glad you are ok.

Obviously he knows he should have evacuated. But what’s done is done. Don’t rub salt in the wounds.

Not quite true. The track of a hurricane can vary wildly. It is not easily predictable.

Evacuate sure… but that does not replace everything lost. was prepaid till Jan

I’m glad to hear the $45 for their 3 months of WoW subscription is now their biggest concern. Guess they are doing ok.

I’m sorry, as a Floridian I don’t really have much sympathy for people who intentionally put themselves in the way of a category 5 storm. Call it a character flaw.

I understand your point, but a lot of people want to stay behind to protect their belongings. Sadly events like this tend to bring the worst out in people and looting becomes commonplace.

I am sorry that this happened to you.

The only natural disasters that I have to worry about are wildfires and earthquakes. Often with little warning. In case of one, my blizzard account will be the least of my worries. Connecting with family and assessing damage would be the highest priority. The cost of a WOW account would be lost in dealing with Insurance claims and payouts.

I’m in Canada but I hope those affected by the hurricane are getting back on their collective feet in a speedy fashion.

I will be the a-hole I guess. Why in the world would you expect Blizzard to reimburse you for game time because a weather event occurred in the area you live in? It has nothing at all to do with Blizzard. And what would be the cutoff? Five miles away from the eye? 20? When a tornado runs through Kansas, does just the strip hit by the tornado get reimbursed? Others? This was a silly thing to ask them for.

True Sorelai. I guess it is another expense loss

So… You contacted support and asked to have the unused game time from your sub that was unusable due to not having the internets for 3 months restored to you?

Did they say no? If so, why?

True. But Blizz sell pets to support International… Gues they don’t for the States

I can sympathize that the experience was overall traumatic, but, that’s really beyond Blizzard’s responsibility. Or any business.

Does Netflix owe you $10.99 for every month you were unable to watch? Amazon for Prime? Hulu?

Sorry, but life doesn’t work that way, Unless some enterprising insurer out there is offering “online outage protection” (personally never hard of such a thing but wouldn’t be surprised if someone has thought of it), you are outta luck.
