im at work so i cant check my logs, but im 99.9999% sure it does more than 4 damage. I think even rank 1 does at least 30 damage! lol again I cant verify but the chimera shot takes all your serpent sting damage and applies that as a burst and refreshes the tick. So if you do the serpent spread rune (I have it but dont use it) and pair with chimera (hope its not the same armor slot - if it is lol)… in theory that chimera shot should do a fairly big hit (if bliz math works the way they make it fail) it probably (but shouldnt) total up all 3 spread stings and apply that to 1 chimera (op if it is broken this way)… again at work, and im sure the hotfix isnt live, but I will be checking this out later today/tomorrow (unless its hotfixed again) haha
Who needs world peace when you can see hunters get nerfed every week. It’s beautiful.
Dumb take, Hunters have the opportunity to receive new runes that boost their dps in each phase.
Hmm…
Almost seems like things are fine.
Quick short answer, yes. People kept dying to pets and instead of learning to play, cry for nerfs instead.
Hunters are currently the 3rd highest dps behind only rogues and very geared warriors and their pets were responsible for about half of the damage. Pets were nerfed while actual hunter abilities were buffed. You will be fine.
Amazing how a class that is in the top dps and considered meta in pvp can completely drown out the forum in tears while classes/specs that are actually being neglected barely make a peep.
Pretty well known that hunter has been the class for selfish newbs for 20 years.
imagine thinking warcraft logs was PvP
One rune was nerfed and other runes in the same slot were “buffed” (they were gutted day 2 so I wouldn’t call it a buff).
The buffs and nerfs target 2 different gameplay options. It was a flat nerf with no compensation for BM hunters.
Imagine narrowing down the logistics more from a broad topic of “game balance” to pvp but ok. I cant really say much to you there since warriors are as-s in pvp unless they can get ahold of the other opponent in which case that warcraft logs info really starts to hit home but thats why warrior pocket priest is a thing as well.
First off–your pet does more burst than the average warrior. While you’re 40 yards away, it’s hitting people for 300 crits on lightning breath. It’s absurd. Play another class for a week and you’ll be in the “nerf hunters” camp.
You have unbelievable bias if you think they didn’t need a nerf.
Why don’t they beat melee on DPS in raid, you ask? One, simple answer:
WINDFURY
Are you to say that the other classes should be balanced around having Windfury, so that whenever they DON’T have it, they’re literally a noodle?
The problem is that hunters can do 80% of a warrior or rogue’s dps WITHOUT windfury. This makes them the strongest class in the game with no buffs. Your class needs to be desparately nerfed, and they need to figure out a way to make hunters stronger ONLY in a RAID setting, like the other classes.
It’s not an increase for more than a few players that parse doing every little thing they can. Most people will still use the BM rune as it’s better for them, they just lose a portion of their damage with no compensation as the runes that where buffed are in the same slot.
I wish they buffed our base spells like they stated rather than runes, what a troll lol.
I am supporting the nerf to the BM rune, I just wish they buffed some of the runes in the other slots or even replaced a few as all but like 3-4 Hunter runes are completely useless.
imagine thinking standing at a target dummy (raid boss damage) and thinking youll be just as powerful in pvp
imagine thinking warriors are fine as long as they have a healer and its 2v1
imagine
I’ve been running MM for weeks, and the rotation feels really good. I keep up with our BM hunters @ ~140-180 DPS. This change should increase that a bit, probably to ~160-200 DPS.
Keep in mind that the MM build has a net 28-30% crit chance with Sniper Training and MM Runes. The additional 15% damage on chimaera looks a lot bigger when you crit with it.
I played a hunter on day 1, they weren’t gutted, they were normalized. ES was the most busted ability in the game on release that would essentially one shot mobs. Crying about this is laughable.
The most busted spec atm. You also had some mana reductions on other abilities. As has been said a million times, you were at the head of the pack, you will be fine.
Horde and shaman have much more room to complain than hunters, yet you don’t see the forums flooded with threads crying about that.
look team both of these changes are not the direction we should be going. what makes wow classic so fun is the craziness every class is gonna be OP at some point during this why lose your entire base of hunters in one update cause i guarantee that is what will happen from this change. We literally cant keep up to other classes PLEASE UNDERSTAND IF PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING THATS A GOOD THING. IF THEY ARENT SIGNING OFF THEN IT PROVES THAT IT DOESNT MAKE THE GAME UNPLAYABLE THANK YOU. you should focus on reworking the rest of the classes if you want to balance things maybe change up some of the damage on other classes even though we are already being outperformed by other classes but just take away the one things that made hunters fun. if your going to make BM unplayable atleast give us something different because now were not even gonna be able to keep up in PVP
L Take
balance involves addition as well as subtraction
Yes they were gutted. ES damage was divided by 3 and chim shot there was no reason to nerf it. I’m not saying ES was not OP (though it was less powerful than current starsurge) but they changed it mechanically and overdid the nerf.
ES was more op simply because its a hunter ability. The fillers between starsurges are quite a bit weaker than standard hunter stuff.
The fillers between ES are autoshot and multishot (that’s a 10s cd autoshot).
