I feel like we are arguing technicalities when the effect is the same. Unless you are blowing up a mob because you are over geared growl is going to pull that mob back to your pet.
AKA Taunt.

You are showing Retail, NOT Classic.
https ://classic.wowhead.com/spell=355/taunt Warrior: Applies Aura Taunt
https ://classic.wowhead.com/spell=6795/growl Druid: Applies Aura Taunt
https ://classic.wowhead.com/spell=14921/growl Pet: Adds threat
All on classic wowhead. Read how the skills work
Does your pet at Happy doing 125% damage considerably up its threat in the threat table when using Growl?
@Backagain, I know how the Skill works. I’m telling you to make sure you have the Classic Box ticked on the Wowhead section instead of the BFA/Retail Box ticked. They are different.
They work differently from Retail and Classic.
Classic: https://classic.wowhead.com/spell=14921/growl
Live: https://www.wowhead.com/spell=2649/growl
You were referring to Live in which I agree. In Classic Growl is a Taunt.
When I click on the wowhead links I posted, it shows the classic versions of the skills. Is it coming up different for you? Even the link you posted
here, shows that the ability adds threat, it doesn’t taunt and apply the taunt aura, the way warriors and druids do.
It’s showing Taunt, even for you. I just copied and pasted that.
I just gave you the links to the Classic version and Retail version.
Move along now.
/Lesson over
Okay, now I feel like you’re trolling me. The links of the spells you just linked say it is a taunt in live, and not a taunt in classic.
It says “taunt”
Edit: in Classic, I mean. It really does.

Taunt the target, increasing the likelihood the creature will focus attacks on you.
Yes, now go down to where it shows you the actual effects of the spell.
OK, now I get it.
Hmmm.
If you look at the druid and warrior spells, it lists Effect 1: Taunt Effect 2: Apply Aura Taunt. The Pet spell Growl lists Effect 1: Threat and then it gives a value. There is no taunt effect on Growl(pet).
Yes, I get what you’re saying now. Sorry I was so dense there.
Edit: it’s all Blizzard’s fault, with their confusing wording
Great. I really thought I was taking crazy pills for a moment and that I was seeing something completely different from everyone else
As stated in several posts, Growl is not a taunt in Classic. It just raises the pet’s overall threat.
With that said, in classic, pets don’t inherently have all their abilities. You literally have to tame the type of beast that has the ability and RANK of ability you want so you, the hunter, can learn it, then you use the pet training ability in your spell book to teach another loyal pet the ability. You also have a pet trainer near the hunter trainer for some such abilities.
