Hunter taming Oondasta over and over again to mess with people

I just started playing again and started farming these Pandaria bosses. Sure it’s annoying when hunters want Oondasta as a pet but I accept it.

This weekend, a horde hunter was sitting there four hours taming Oondasta and releasing just to troll people. I kept a toon logged there and would just log back out when I saw him.

I stayed today because there were enough that I thought there was a good chance they’d dps fast enough to twart the tame. Someone said they had sat there 3 times in a row trying to get a kill.

I get taming it for pet or maybe for laughs doing in once or twice but sitting there for hours doing it is a real piece of work.

The quickest and best fix for this problem is to turn on Warmode.

HUNTER TAMING OONDASTA OVER AND OVER AGAIN TO MESS WITH PEOPLE

does taming it stop you from doing what you need to do?
Are you trying to kill it?

That person must be incredibly bored to do that for hours. I mean, that is some serious commitment to trolling.

I’d second the other suggestion to simply put warmode on for the kill, then turn it back off.

if a hunter starts the tame you cannot kill it, he will despawn and become a pet.

yes.

oondasta has a shield that prevents any damage taken for X seconds

the hunter tame is Y seconds

X > Y

you literally cannot kill oondasta if a hunter is there taming it.

it’s absolutely stupid that blizzard made a boss that drops a mount AND has that invulnerability shield tameable

well report them if they are doing that as it is considered a type of griefing.

yeah…that sounds kinda stupid. One of the fun parts of tryig to get some of the rare hunter pets is the idiots who like to keep killing it so you cant tame it until you go do it at 4am while the kiddies are in bed

lol /10char

I’m pretty sure Horde players also want the mount. What’s your solution there?

Wait for the Alliance to show up.

And get insta ganked 6v1. Good luck with that.

To be fair, unless someone happens to have an encyclopedic knowledge of all the particularly desired rare hunter pets, their thought process if they see it while questing and/or happen to be in the zone is going to be “oo, lemme see what this rare spawn drops”.

That’s interesting that the tame is faster than the shield. I always thought we dps’d him fast enough to avoid but maybe it’s just that the hunter didn’t start tame fast enough.

I thought about warmode but I’d just get one shot as I’m a 110 character.

This particular guy gave up after failing so I’ve gotten 4 toons done since I posted this without him being there.

Call it revenge for people killing rare pets for the crystallized tears.

Blizz should have just copy pasted his model elsewhere for a hunters and have that mob drop no loot and left the boss alone. So stupid.

I 100% agree with this.

that turtle up in hyjal was horrible, lol.
either other hunters taming it all day long…or when they were gone someone from either side would keep one shotting it every time me and the wife would try to tame it.
we both gave up after about a week. she never has bothered again. i ended up being up there farming something and decided to fly over and there it was with no one around, so I snagged it up.
But yeah…it was well after 3 am, lol.

some players just seem to get a kick out of griefing other players…even if its the same side.

Why didn’t you just go kill him?

The world bosses have a 4 second immunity shield so everyone can get a hit in before he’s one shot. Hunters can tame him before that shield drops.
