Hunter Pets in BfA

All you need is ghost moose. That’s the only pet I use.

I have the Ghost Moose and I don’t really use it.

I like Ban’thalos more because my hunter is a Nelf.

Good morning,

I’m glad that there’s already a thread for this. Going back to the OP, I would like the option to choose a pet’s spec restored.

I’ve wanted to be a Gryphon Rider since playing WarCraft 2. Burning Crusade introduced gryphons as mounts, fulfilling part of that wish. When I came back after a decade-long hiatus for BfA, I learned that hunters could tame gryphons as combat pets. During Season 1, instead of running BfA Mythics and Uldir, I spent months running around old Legion content to unlock the ability, then a further few weeks in Pandaria to unlock the Grand Gryphon mounts to match the pet version. Now I find that I cannot justify using my long-awaited gryphon pet in PvE or PvP because it’s just not an optimal spec.

PvE and PvP can hinge on having just a little extra healing or that one extra root-break. Requiring specific pets with the optimal ability/spec combo leads to the majority of pet options never being used.

I can’t speak for all hunters, but I love my pets. Personal preference aside, there is genuine investment on our part in choosing and capturing them. It would be nice if, then, they could be useful in combat again.
