Boars are easiest to level with. They eat anything, they charge which is nice.
You can do cat for more dps. But meat/fish only.
For beginning hunters, I like a bear. It’s a great tank and it eats anything, so low maintenance.
DPS pets are better once you get some decent gear and weapons.
