HPal is boring AF I want my Crusader Strike back!

listen if I wanna play a “holy caster” I just go make a priest. Whats the whole point of our sh#tty mastery if I wont be at melee range. This spec just feel AWFUL af to play right now.

I just came back after a loooong break. Back when I left, Glimmer of light was the go to, one of the best and coolest things that has happened to HPal so far Imo. Now I see that its gone. Apparently it was “too difficult” for some people, so instead of creating options they decided to remove it punishing people that really like a more challenging play style.

I honestly dont know whats the class fantasy of the HPaly anymore, Im supposed to be a warrior of the light, fighting and defending my allies side to side in the battlefield blah blah, but in reality I feel more like a holy priest with an armor.

I want an explicit talent tree patch exclusively for a melee healer play style. Starts with picking Crusader Strike and from there you add more choices to enhance the build.

I want choices, I dont want to be mindlessly forced to play a simple boring spec without any sauce.

For starters holy power should be a ret thing only unless you have the melee build.

PS: Beacon of light SUCKS! only 10% really???

Wait, if holy paladins are casters primarily now, now might be the timefor me to return lol

The only reason I don’t go back to Holy Paladin is because I think it’s $tupid to be subject to Holy Power.

In the same way that Holy Priest feels “weird” healing non-stop just to speed up the Holy Word charges.
Healers shouldn’t be subject to that kind of mechanics.

They spent all of DF and TWW polishing the redesigned Holy and then in Midnight they tore it to the ground and butchered it. Makes no sense.

Every other healer spec has the ability to dps without using healing resources or cooldowns, except paladin now. They needed to at least bring back denounce or something, this is ridiculously boring.

yeah pretty much, seems like you still want to be in the front with the melee and tank to get some damage in with sor (which feels kinda weak in dmg and the pitiful mp return but it’s a spender) but you’re not punished as severally as you were before if you need to step back and range heal also everything else is range anyways.

honestly, i love it like this. i love classic hpal and it’s my fave class in the game. though it helps im use to being in melee now but im glad i can take a breather if i need to focus full heal.

p.s. light of dawn being a normal aoe heal is huge to me like ty finally

I personally prefer the classical style of caster holy paladin using holy light and shock to heal allies. But I have no problems with there being talent options to play a more melee-oriented playstyle. But right now we’re just spamming Judgment to build HP and then spam Light of Dawn. Could be better for both (caster and melee) worlds.

Having to spec into a Talent for an extra 10% Beacon healing should be a crime.

Hpally never had to play Melee this expansion, I played Herald the entire Xpac.

No, this is our class specific “mechanic” and we like it, you’d be further dumbing down Hpally if you just made WoG/LoD on a set CD.

No, we like our Holy Power.

???

why play an hpal if u don’t want to fight? that’s like saying u dont want to play a priest because it heals too much

Yeah I miss it too … nice having an actual melee ability …

ofc that’s why I said holy power should be a ret and prot mechanic only. Unless you go for the melee play style then holy power would make sense.

we should have more choices, for those who like a pure caster spec, and for those who enjoy a melee style spec. And I know they can do it because we already had it before. They are just being lazy.

Another option would be to completely redesign the “Herald of the Sun” talents for that purpose or simply to make a 4th spec that’s it a pure melee healer.

Back when I heard about the hero talents I thought that’s how it was gonna work. If you go with the prot-holy path you would be playing a safer and shields oriented style and if you go with the ret-holy talent trees you would be playing a more aggressive and healing through damage style.

But it’s whatever at this point, they dont read or listen to feedback. Whats the point of having the alpha and beta if it’s gonna run for months with people telling them what to do and what not to do, and they will do all the opposite. They will just release the patch notes with 20% buff to X and 30% buff to Y and call it a day, but they will never pay attention the core problems.

Mid DF Hpal seemed fine and fun to play I thought? Who knows, just wait 6 months and they’ll be a new Hpal playstyle to try once again.

Playstyle preferences.

Been telling this to the hpal “mains” here but nobody listens. Sad what has happened to hpal

This totally. I don’t mind casting but I don’t like that I can’t crusader strike anymore if I want to and nothing is going on. I don’t really want to waste my holy shocks on attacking. Maybe if they returned exorcism a pure casting build would feel better but right now it feels like it does too much standing around even though the healing itself is decent.

Crusader Strike was trash, and the MUCH greater access we now have to both Holy Shock and Judgment makes up for it 20 fold.

Also, Beacon continually getting weaker is the BEST thing that has happened to the spec. The weaker Beacon is, the stronger the rest of our kit can be. Strong Beacon was the reason every single one of our other heals (barring LoH) was wet noodle-tier for so long.

Complaining about something being boring and simultaneously wanting Crusader Strike back is a massive contradiction.

Crusader Strike was the lamest most boring melee ability in the game. It was literally just primal strike, but they kept it for paladins at max level where shaman get rid of it early on because it’s a lame boring ability where you just swing your weapon like an auto attack.

SotR and Avenging Crusader (which brings CS back to you) still keeps the meleedin fantasy intact if that’s what you want and also continues to make the option of 2h int weapons a really odd trap.

Also,

Talking about melee and then talking about glimmer doesn’t make sense. Glimmer of Light was a popular playstyle that revolved primarily around using holy shock. It was popular because of the instant cast elements primarily (only one of which was melee). You may have been in melee, but the primary aspect of a glimmer build was HOLY SHOCK. Not crusader strike. Melee aspects of holy paladin never evolved past an afterthought. It was never a primarily melee focused spec at any point in time, even when you spent your time in melee to maximize holy power generation or reduce the HS CD. You never healed via melee outside of a cooldown.

The instant cast playstyle is still preserved via holy shock, judgement and WoG/LoD.

Full agree. I want melee healer.

As of beta, you should NEVER use sotr. Wog with the damage talent has more HPS - AND - DPS. The pathetic mana return is not even halfway to making up for the loss of efficiency.

What does that have to do with bringing back denounce or some other ability that doesn’t cannibalize healing capability?
