Currently the buff has to fall off while you’re in combat to summon a beast. Unless the buff is close to expiring before you enter combat, you have to wait 25 seconds to summon. This is extremely weak design. We need to be able to open a pull with a beast.

It should work outside of combat too, like the Diabolist Warlock’s demon rituals. It’s exactly the same, wait for the buff to run out to get another buff that summons a new pet, except theirs works outside of combat as well because the Warlock class dev is not incompetent.

That’s not how it works. You get the beast when the buff expires during combat. All BW does is give you the buff. Everything gives you the buff.
Have you spent even 5 seconds playing the spec actually ? You can absolutely BW and open with the beast.
I’ve been playing my hunter all morning. Giving the buff doesn’t summon a beast. The buff has to expire while you’re in combat. Maybe you should actually try it. Howl of the Pack leader is the generic CD buff that grants the beast buff when it expires in combat.
Just tried it, summons the beast fine, weird huh ?
