So…why would you invite that person in the first place?
Good thing is I don’t need to get better, I know my warriors rotation down to a T! The issue I have is not wanting to run keys every single day, I did that all back in legion and the BFA dungeons are pretty stinky tbh.
Another reason why I personally try to stray from key runs is because of people leaving. Recently a healer left because the tank pulled 1 extra group and just assumed we were gonna wipe
Pretty lame if ya ask me!
Personally I think that’s incredibly petty but to each their own.
Out of interest has any particular experience lead you to make this decision, like especially pushy people wanting to “Mould” you as a form of virtue signalling, or a desire to go through the game without any unsolicited interaction?
I love being petty, especially to people I’ll never meet.
The fact that you can be as good at the game as you want to be, but if you’re not making money then it is a gigantic waste of time for you. Because as soon as the servers go down, all those skills and rotations and theory crafting are completely useless.
You’re only pro at a video game if someone pays you to do it and people want to watch you. Otherwise, you’re not nearly as good as you think you are.
Perfectly acceptable, I just wanted to understand your reasoning was all.
Yep. The word “elitist” doesn’t really have a meaning anymore.
Personally, i find i have more fun when i know what I’m doing and know what my character is capable of. I don’t do it for anything other than that. Video games are inherently time wasters. I don’t have to be paid to play to want to play well. To each their own i guess.
Exactly.
So if you just do enough to get by, you save your energy for improving at something that actually matters and possibly gives you a physical product to show as a result of your improvement.
Why not both?
Because there’s a finite number of hours in a lifespan. Your life is the one thing that exists that absolutely is a zero-sum. For every decision you make, there’s another decision you can’t. For every minute you spend on one thing, there’s something else that suffers.
So WoW is at the absolute bottom of my priority list and it comes to “I just derp around with a friend or two for an hour or so a week.”
By that logic, why play video games at all?
But also, as i said earlier, being proficient in content makes the game fun for me. I don’t see how someone who is wasting enough time to do higher content wouldn’t want to be better at it. I don’t know, maybe that’s just me.
Because they’re more interesting than watching a TV show or a movie. At least you do something besides stare at a screen.
Also, there’s nothing wrong with playing a video game. There’s something wrong with treating it like a job and spending time outside of your video game crunching numbers and rotations.
Especially for WoW where very little of that ever is allowed to make a serious difference by the designers.
If I’m going to do something I tend to enjoy it more if I’m doing it well. Maybe I’m odd like this though Idk.
I dont think there is anything Wrong with spending time crunching numbers etc if you want to.
“Wait, how do you know they were a witch?”
“Because they said they weren’t a witch!”
“Wait, how is that evidence?”
“Because that’s exactly what a witch would say!”
When I ask you about your experiences with elitism, it’s anecdotal, not hearsay. Neither requires proof; in fact, both imply that there is no proof.
Anecdotal: “I got picked on by an elitist.”
Hearsay: “Jimmy told Shelly told Tommy told me that Fred was an elitist.”
So when you tell me that I’m trolling, when you impart motives on me that I don’t have… you’re gaslighting me?
Man… what an elitist.
i disagree about the crunching numbers. I Def don’t treat wow like my job but it’s always been an appealing part of the game for me…same with theorycrafting.
Come to think of it - most games I played in my life were all just like these fun math equations!
One of the only things i liked about that game to bad it’s not my cup of tea.
I usually will restrain offering help, knowing that I will receive a hostile response similar to the one you would give me; however, if people are playing a game (an MMORPG, keep in mind) and are making a mistake on a mechanic that is preventing their dungeon or raid group from progressing, then somebody is going to have to tell that person what they are doing incorrectly in order for the other players to progress. And if that person receiving the help refuses to accept it, then it is at the expense of every other player involved; moreover, in my opinion, the person refusing the help is selfish, considering they are essentially becoming a mass road block for everyone else playing with them.
Never once have I claimed to be a good person.
I try to help ppl a lot in LFR. I tank in LFR (otherwise im a dps in normal and heroic raiding) and pretty much take the role of raid leader. I make sure everyone understands the mechabics by asking a few times if anyobe needs help. For example thr Azshara fight really has 1 mandatory mechanic regarding charging the seals and i take my time walking that thru before the fight. I literally go from seal to sea and correlate them with the seal map under the minimap. On most occassions we 1 shot azshara or 2 shot her. And ppl appreciate it. It really feels good to help ppl get that kill. Many times i get returbing players saying 1st time here.
Its a great fight too. That last wing is my most favourite LFR wing in the game out of all the wings since cata.
